  1. Laura...I fully get the corn/soybeans boredom talk. That's all I hear for a full 9 months out of the year. Corn, beans, lay of the land, surveying, how the laser is working/not working, germination, rain/no rain, get this done, get that done, get it done again, and now one more time. But, even though it all bores me at times, it's a good life and actually quite interesting most of the time. But, will have to admit there are times when DH is talking and all I hear is that voice Charlie Brown heard from his teacher. Nothing. Bad Farm Goddess!
  2. Melissa...sorry you are struggling (hugs). Maybe it wouldn't hurt to go talk to someone. Take a look at your ticker...you have taken so much off and have not taken a big gain or anything. At least you have not gained a bunch back. Try to get back on track right away this morning and try not to feel defeated. If you feel you need someone to talk to, make the step to do it and set up an appt. right away b/4 you talk yourself out of it. You know, Charlene is on her plan but she has to be accountable to her doc every week. Maybe that's what you need instead of trying to do this all on your own and beating yourself up when you slip off the plan. I know that for me, it always helped to have someone to check in with and be accountable. I feel for you, Melissa. You are so close to reaching your goal. (It may seem overwhelming for you but it's not 100lbs). Hugs again:wub:
  3. Lori...your vent does not surprise me at all. It is the way of the mortage industry. DH's parents bought a home in town a few years ago. Had cash for most but did not want to dig into their IRA's for the maybe 20% remaining. I think they jumped through more hoops than my young son did when he bought his home. Crazy. Just try to take time out to breath. Maybe a good thing you are working to no sit at home a fret. It will all eventually fit together. It's just paperwork and just do what is requested and push it back their way as quickly as you can. Thursday is tomorrow and DH will be back. And, leave the Fritos behind when you leave vowing to NEVER bring them into your new home or anywhere you are tempted. Bet they were tasty though! LOL. Mine wouldn't be plain. They'd have melted cheese, chunky salsa, ground hamburger and sour cream. Bet some of those 5lbs are the sodiom that is in those darned things. Go get a small watermelon or cantelope, cut it up, put in a baggy and make that your to-go-to Snacks when you are stressed. So sorry these weeks are so stressful. You've been through it b/4 and everything will work. Reminds me of when I fret about getting the crops in. DH always says "We always get them in and we always get them out...and, if not, we have insurance". That's when I would have gone and ate a LARGE bag of Cheetos. OMG...I was just sitting here typing and a thought ran right through my brain. I AM ROSE FROM THE GOLDEN GIRLS. She always dug up a stupid story or saying from her past and shared it to relate to what was going on with someone. OH NO....I've become her.
  4. I used to volunteer with 7-12 grade kids when we had those days in town. We would take care of senior resident's yards and get them spiffed up. We took our lawn tools, etc., hopped on the school bus and went around town a few days each year. Was a great way to get to know the kids and still have elderly friends from those days. Have fun on you outing on Sat. Been calm, stand straight, shoulders back...exude confidence and smile. (Sounds like a lot of work to me). Just try to be as relaxed as can be and have fun.:w00t:
  5. Good Morning... OK...so, since Julie brought it up....I'll tell you guys my worst trait. IMPATIENCE. It is something I work on daily and really try to keep in check. I remember being 5 yrs old and regonizing that I did not appreciate having this personality flaw. I want everything organized and everything done NOW. I guess it was somewhat of an advantage when I was out and in the "real world" and had my own business. Now, if I was impatient and threw demanding in with it, it would not have worked. Thank goodness being demanding is not something in me...I wouldn't have lasted. I was able to present the work to be done in a kind manner so I got the results I wanted. Do the same when it comes to family life and things getting done around here. I guess I am more impatient with myself than I am others. Thanks for the topic of the day, Julie! Hope you can get to your appt tomorrow and hope today finds you feeling much better. Janet...I have been a Crystal fan from the first time she walked out on stage. But, Lee out-shined her by quite a bit last night. I guess I never really noticed Lee much at first but he has really come out of his shell and is most likely going to run with the title. He's such a cute kid and seems so genuine. Not real hug talent this year. Never did like Caseys shakey voice but he also seems like a cute/nice kid. Up early and got the last of my 75 or so plants in the ground. So pretty. Tomorrow need to do the same at the lake place. 600 acres remaining to be planted to soybeans. DH and DS are running on fumes but that is the way it is during planting season. Not much sleep but they are such farmers that they thrive on that "high" farmers get. I am pretty sure I will be leaving for the lake tomorrow. Out to dinner with friends and a road trip for Friday. Three of us. My GF and I have a cute little guy friend. He's late 70's and wanted to take us girls to a casino for the day. He loves to sleep in so will most likely not get a start until 11am or so. He's so smiley and cute and just fun to be around. The casino makes him happy and he does not like to go alone so we will make it a day with him. I am really looking forward to our time with him. Lots to do around here today so I can leave tomorrow. I am sure not missing the extra mouths to feed this year and am enjoying my "me" time. Talk to you all later.
  6. Well, Janet, you could always just pull a "Phyll" and show that trainer your swear finger!
  7. Arlene...just wanted to wish you luck at your weigh-in tomorrow. And, loyalty is a great trait. Just gotta watch so others do not take advantage of your good intentions. Can't wait to hear the good news on what your doc's scale reads tomorrow. Good luck. You're a trooper!
  8. LauraK..all my little plants are tucked in and already have happy little faces. They love the care I have given them so far. Even the ones that are not planted yet are happy. They are in their temporary home in the garage in that back of my truck. Thanks for sharing your wonderful personal traits. And, good traits they are!
  9. Phyll...your gym membership reminds me of the computer with all the bells and whistles I am using and the 24 inch flat screen I am looking at. Called our favorite little computer guy about a year ago stating we wanted to upgrade. Farm is buying it (always love it when it's not my dollar) so I ordered it up, plus some extras. Well, to this day we have not paid for it. Little guy came out and spent a bit of time transferring info, setting up, etc. When leaving said he woud send a bill. After not getting an invoice the first month, called his office...said it would get sent. Second month, the same...this went on until March of this year. I gave up. I just ordered this thing up without asking for a price cuz I trusted him to install just what we needed...and, of course, the extras I requested. Handed the situations over to DH in March. He got his "Goin' To Town" jeans and boots on and went in for a visit and took the checkbook. "We'll get back to you on it". Huh???????
  10. Phyll...I have done the "1 Finger Wave" a few times in my years on the road. Last time I did it DH was with me and I guess is was lecture time cuz I certainly got one. "Some day you are going to meet up with the wrong person. They will run you off the road and you'll never come home again". I explained to him that you have to have respect for others on the road and she deserved the respect I gave her. So did your little speed bump avoiding Chickie-Poo. Oh...and thanks for the kudos on junking up the thread and missing me...awww
  11. Peaches...all good traits. You guys are pretty great participators.
  12. Joyce...are you trying to tell us that your best trait is cleaning up after others??????????? If it is...more power to you! Phyll...being comapssionate AND a good listener are things I look for in a friend and what it takes to be a good nurse (as I am sure you are/were). As far as being a conversationalist...not necessary...just soak it all in and respond when you feel it's important. Another day of me junking up the thread....in between planting about 1/2 of my 175 plants. Think I will have to leave the rest for tomorrow. Our resident Master Gardener would be so proud of this amatuerish dirt digger.
  13. Great...gotta remember you are dealing with a 101yr old woman. Heck, I'm 54 and out of sorts sometimes. I am sure she is sad you are leaving but try not to take her attitude as your problem. Maybe she was just not feeling up to an outing, maybe tired, etc. Julie...sorry to hear you have the stomach bug. Did you call your doc for meds or do you have some on hand? Jessica...poor girl...I feel for ya. There's all kinds of ways to get out and move and no inflict further trauma to your injury. Call your friend and see what she suggests for an alternative. Hugs
  14. The six teeth that are going to be pulled do not have any decay. I have just lost bone structure on all of them. I am lucky that I do not have gum problems and everything is healthy regarding that. I have been dealing with hanging onto these bottom teeth since my early teens and have poured a lot of $$$ into them with reconstructive gum surgeries (2) and babying them for over 30 yrs. I could do it all again and maybe lose them in a few short yrs. Not worth it. I can deal with a bridge as long as it feels and looks natural. One of the reasons I chose this dentist. I have seen some of the amazing work he has done and I for once in my life want that smile. Doc gave me kudos on the care I have given to my mouth. Considering that every family member on my mother's side had dentures b/4 the age of 20, I consider myself lucky to have what I have to work with. Good to hear your mom's lungs are clear. I agree that it is best to check out why she is have night spells. Maybe it's just an imbalance of some sort?
  15. Arlene...I've been on FB for awhile but just don't go there much. I have intended on befriending my LB friends on there but just have never gotten around to it. Please do send me a friend request and that will get me going with the others. Had 3 dental appts last week and quite long ones at that. It's going well and looking forward to having them all behind me. Told my doc I want to be aggressive and be on an on-call basis so he can get more procedures done and that will bring me closer to the end. I have had major dental work done in the past and am not fearful of what's to come. I guess the only appt that will be physically taxing will be the extraction of the six front bottom teeth. I have elected to not be put under for the extractions and DH is quite worried about it. I know that this maybe does not sound quite right but I have not told him when my appt. is (June 2). I have a friend that lives in the town where my doc is and she is going to care for me. I will just let him know when it's over. We are just going to do it with laughing gas. I know I can handle it just fine...DH loves me and worries a bit too much. I bet your dentist will want to cap your sharp teeth instead of grinding them down. And, actually, not sure you would want to grind them and make them more fragile. They have such amazing techniques in dentistry now. Only problem is...$$$$$ How's your mom? Any better? Hope this round of antibiotics clears it up for her. Take care
  16. Awww....
  17. Much better than being a Princess
  18. I love the word Goddess
  19. Laura...maybe your poor umph just needs some building up again and will come back with more visits to the gym. Congrats on getting yourself there. I agree with you...you are very compassionate, loyal and you do have a lot of get up and go. I also do think that one of your best traits is the mother that you are. We are sisters in the perfectionist dept. I find that as I have let go of certain things in life, I have seen that side of me diminish and "whew" for that. I looked back and am not playing fair...I forgot to disclose what I feel is my best trait. I believe it is the ability to withstand whatever comes my way and accept it and deal. I guess you could call me the "Farm Goddess" . Able to withstand the elements.
  20. So true...a positive attitude and determination are the key to success. Taking a look at what you can do to make the scale move in the right direction and making changes in eating habits, upping the exercise are proactive. Negative thinking produces negative results. Good going on taking the steps to get the lapband and moving onto a healthy life!
  21. Great...Good morning. Enjoy your time with Grandma. You are going to miss her but time to hand over the wand to the sisters and momma. I am sure your GM apprciates the time you took for her and the special moments you have created since she moved to CO.
  22. Jessica...you have done so much since the first time we met you here on this thread. I think I can speak for all of us mother hens when I tell you that we are all so proud of your accomplishments. To be able to list just the steps you have made in the last few short months in your above post is just amazing. You have soooooooooooooo come out of your shell and found your way. I love what your father posted on FB. I know some things got to you in the last month regarding your past. His message to you is something your should repeat to yourself first thing every morning.
  23. Welcome Rhonda! Sounds like you are fitting right into Lapband life. Don't worry about your little ones missing thier fast food trips. Once in awhile isn't so bad for them but healthy options on a daily basis will set them up for making good choices in the future. While eating out, there are so many healthy choices that you can make. Big changes in your household with your DH getting banded also. Good for you for both making the steps towards a healthy life. Your children will benefit from having two healthy parents and will have good role models to enable them to form their own healthy lifestyle. I have never regretted my decision to have LB surgery. Good luck to both of you!
  24. Approachable...one of the reasons I came to this thread. I had followed some of your posts early on, Janet, and I KNEW I could ask anything and you would be open and honest with your answers.
  25. Janet...just gotta correct you on your Dallas airport "nightmare" comment...No...not nightmare...they are called flightmares! What a great idea to post some photos of the average LB meals on here for ppl that are fairly new and wondering. Think you should do that the next time you are not too hungry and too tired. I would need to post about 15 diff meals since I eat every hour or so. LOL. Too embarrassed to post what a "normal" day is for me. Already had 750 cals in by 7am. Still hang at the same weight no matter what I do. Have accepted every aspect of my new life though and no worries. I'm going to say this AGAIN just cuz I feel like I have to get it off my chest. Nothing you guys do to make me feel this way...believe me...all me. I don't allow myself to share what I eat and what a normal menu is for me because I am different than most. I actually feel "abnormal" and out of the loop sometimes. And, I don't share much cuz I in NO way want any new ppl or anyone lurking thinking the way I eat is the norm. Just had to get that out. I don't feel lucky or blessed because I, too, have to keep a running total of what I eat just to make sure I get enough in each day. Make sense to you guys why I feel this way? We haven't had a "Topic of the Day" since the last time Laura suggested one. Gonna think for a few to see if I can come up with something interesting (always a good way to get to delve into what you all are like). OK...here goes...Share what you feel is your best personality trait. Something you really love about yourself. Share anything...don't feel like you are being arrogant or braggy...just share and be proud of that trait that you admire.
