  1. Hi! I am going through this center and my surgery is scheduled for this coming Wednesday, the 21st! They are very helpful!!! As far as your seminar goes, are you referring to the information seminar before you start everything? If so, you will go to the seminar, get all the information you need from them and fill out the packet of information for the center. You should go ahead and call your insurance company and see how long they require you to be seen by your PCP (primary care physician). I have Humana, I had to be seen for 6 months. On your 4th month, you will come in to the center for your full evaluation with the staff. One thing they did not tell me is to go ahead and start scheduling your cardiac and pulmonary clearances on that day! They take a while and I was held up by them. Finish your clearances and last two months of PCP visits and you will be ready to turn it in and submitted to insurance for approval. Once approved my surgery was scheduled within 3 weeks! Good luck!

    Sugar intake?

Hi! So I'm a pre surgery person but I am a couple months out but I had a question that I forgot to ask during my nutrition appointment. They taught us about sugar intake and trying to keep it below 20 grams a day but my question was regarding the type of sugars. I understand you can't and shouldn't down a Twinkie but does sugars from fruit effect you guys? I am addicted to presliced apples from Sam's Club but 12 slices have 13 grams of sugar. Although eating 12 slices will not be possible, is this type of sugar better or worse? I have also been looking for good recipes for green smoothies to get my vitamins but these have higher sugar levels due to the fruit. Just a question that's been floating around in my head for a while.

    Incisions are driving me crazy!

I haven't had surgery yet but two c-sections taught me the best way to relieve the itching is patting the insisions. Nothing hard but patting them rapidly will male the itching go away.

    Sugar intake?

Thank you for your response! This was something that I had been wondering about as I get closer to my date. I am trying to buy small things ahead of time and have my pre surgery grocery list together. I live in a rural area so getting my hand on fruits and veggies is easy and cheap so green smoothies seemed like a good avenue to attempt for nutrition when the time comes for it but I kept noticing the high amounts of sugar they create. I would obviously like to avoid dumping but I'm guessing it is part of the game to learn your own limits.

    Skin?

Hi everyone! Normally I would post in pre-op because that's where I am but I had questions for the veterans! I am 3 months away from my surgery and I'm bound and determined to be prepared for anything that it can throw my way. I'm not overly concerned about the actual surgery, as I have had two very complicated csections, but more so on the after care. My biggest question though is regarding excess skin. I am heavy. My family calls me a brick **** house. Lol I am about 5'6 and 310 lbs. That being said I am only in a size 18 pants. I'm compact I suppose. Lol My question about skin comes from the fact that I have scoured the internet looking for 'skin' stories and I find absolutely horrifying accounts of fold after fold of skin from people who have had hundreds of pounds of loss. I personally don't have hundreds to lose to get to a manageable and healthy size. So I am just wanting to know if there is anyone else out there with personal accounts who may have started out like me. My skin isn't overly floppy. I'm worried about my arms but besides my stomach, I am generally big but not jiggly. Not sure that's an accurate description but that's all I can think of. Lol So any opinions and thoughts I would appreciate! Especially on any pre or post skin tightening creams, techniques, etc that you have seen work, fail, etc.
