Hey! I'm a 36 year old mother of 2 who is sick and tired of being a sidelines mom! I've been overweight all my life and have been considering WLS for many years (12+). Just as I decided to pursue it over a decade ago, my husband's insurance decided to drop it from it's coverage. I'm now disabled and have many comorbidities associated with my weight. There are other issues involved, but all are exacerbated by my size.
 
I have called my insurance company, and must admit I was surprised (and SO thankful) that it not only is covered, but it's a pretty painless process on their end. Since I do have to comorbidities, I need only provide my physician with a list of weight loss attempts and their results over the years, and I will be approved! Yes. That easy! Thank you, Lord!

My first appointment is scheduled for just under a month from now on June 25th, and I'm nervous. Had I put my paperwork in when I got it, I could be typing this post-surgery, but there's this giant piece of me (ha!) that is terrified. What if I fail? What if I die? But I finally realized that I'm not doing anyone any good by being the size that I am. I'm not the mother I want to be, or the wife that my husband deserves. Most of all, though, I'm unhealthy. I need to do this. For me. For my family. For my LIFE!
 
So... that's where I am. Pretty much at Step 1, waiting  and waiting. My appointment can't get here soon enough. I feel so adrift in this journey not knowing where I'm headed from here.
