  1. @@Mooseknuckle - Hang in there! You might want to get a shot glass and drink a shot of Protein every 15 minutes or so. Then when you get one down switch to Water and do the same in between your shakes. That's what the surgery center told us to do and it really helped me get it down those first few days. I know your much farther out than that but it might help you get some in. The protein you take in will help your body heal faster. Good luck!
  2. @@Lotsoflove77 - Oooo your post op day 3!! I hope its going well for you!!! Good luck. That first week was a doozie for me, I hope it goes better for you!
  3. It seems I have several signals. I feel pressure in my stomach, I also get hiccups and I burp. One day I ignored these and had one more bite and then it felt like food was backing up and I could feel it in my chest. The thing I need to do is slow down. I am finding it very hard to do. However, I have started putting the fork down between bites and that has helped but there is still room for improvement. I too am a little over two weeks out. @@chelleshocked - I have also lost 9lbs. I am getting 600-700 calories and I drink one cup of coffee that has cream totaling about 100 of those calories. I have found I cant get my Protein in eating two meals and one Protein shake like the NUT told me so I tend to eat one meal and do 2 shakes. But I'm still trying to figure it out! Its a little more difficult eating food. Also, its a little more difficult getting the Water in and eating more solid food.
  4. @@Tazwella - MIne was Adam Smith too! Sleeved 06/24/15 Good luck!
  5. My doctor said it was okay after 4 weeks. I tried it early and it did not go well so I'll wait another couple of weeks and try again.
  6. Hi! I was sleeved 06/24/15. I was on very low carb starting in January 2015 and have lost 48lbs. However, I have only lost 8 lbs since surgery. I had a 4lb regain right after surgery from the IVs but lost that plus 6lbs the first week and this second week I have lost 2lbs. I am still on liquids but will go to soft tomorrow after my appointment with the NUT. I feel lost as well when it comes to knowing what to eat. I am hoping I will feel better about this after the NUT appt tomorrow. Also, since I really haven't lost much since surgery I am still having doubts if this will work for me and doubts if I will be able to lose all the weight I want to lose. I know I will lose some. Like so many others, I think my doubts are "normal" just because I have failed over and over again in the past. I am having 3 shakes a day and a tsp of cottage cheese a couple of times a day. I have also had a couple of low blood sugar episodes, at least that's what it felt like. This morning it was pretty bad cause I broke out into a cold sweat but it passed within about 30 minutes. Didn't mean for this post to be so long but just thought I would include it all.
  7. @@ellekay - I went the hernia route with Dr Adam Smith. He has an office in Fort Worth and I'm not sure if he has an office in Dallas. I don't have hypothyroid issues.
  8. @@chelleshocked - So sorry you're having this issue. I had surgery the same day as you know but I am not having this problem at all. Hopefully some others with more experience can offer advice or suggestions. Good luck.
  9. Hi All, I am 56 and just had sleeve surgery 06/24. Thank goodness the rough part is behind me! I have been reading this thread for the last month or so and finished it. I have really enjoyed it and the info so thank you to all who have contributed! I just wanted to throw this out there. I have had trouble with my hips off and on through the years and when I have trouble I take 3000mg of MSM a day and it has really helped. MSM is something the body makes less or as we age. Good luck!
  10. Yes, mine gurgles all the time too. Part of it is air/gas. When I went to my 7 day post op appt yesterday I mentioned this and asked them if it was normal to feel hungry most of the time. They said it was and that progression with food, eating mushed and so on it will get better. I really hope so!
  11. @@roseluv3 - The Jay Robb unflavored dissolves completely. It does have a whey taste but its okay. Also, the colder the better. It probably depends on the brand if it dissolves completely. I ordered the unjury unflavored and the chicken Soup flavor and a couple of others but haven't received them yet.
  12. I have to be there at 8am and surgery is at 11am! Woohoo here we go!!! Good luck Chelle! I have had an easier time these last two days on the Clear liquids not feeling so darn hungry all day. What a relief!
  13. Here is the link to the thread that talks about this doctor: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/343438-ok-wtf-am-i-doing-wrong/
  14. One person here went to him and no information was given to her about post op diet and when someone asked him he told them to eat whatever they wanted and he would just re-sleeve them in 2 years. Then on his facebook page he accused one person of breaking his table because they were so fat. I'll try to find the post and let you know. I think I would choose someone else. He seems to be in it for the money only.
  15. @@chelleshocked - I'm using sugar free Koolaid and Jay Robb unflavored. Its okay I guess but its going to be tuff drinking all next week!
  16. @@chelleshocked - OMG!! lol I know, right? Its actually been better than I thought it was going to be, thank god! what are you doing for the drink flavoring and what brand of Protein are you using?
  17. Hi Ladies, I wanted to mention the 5:2 eating plan that I read about in the veterans forum. There are quite a few who are using it to get off regained weight and to maintain. Hope this helps. Good luck with your efforts!
  18. I am taking Celebrate Multivitamin Mandarin Orange chewable and its okay but has an aftertaste I'm not crazy about plus this makes me nauseous now while on the pre-op diet and before surgery so I don't think I will keep taking them after. So I was wondering the same thing...
  19. @@wascott - I see your surgery is 06/22!! Good luck Monday!!
  20. Its been a year since anyone has posted but I just have to say I loved reading this thread and all of you are such an inspiration! I really hate that the thread died out!!
  21. @@chines66 - Doc said I could have coffee and tea but decaffeinated only. But I have to have cream in mine so had to give it up! I keep telling myself I can go back to coffee a month post op.
  22. I have been a little weaker than normal too and since I have no caffeine in my system I am sooo ready to get in the bed and go to sleep!! Usually I stay up until about 1130 but I do well to make it to 1030 now. And I go right to sleep! lol Its really hard to believe caffeine did so much for me, but it really gives quite a bit of energy. Hang in there everyone. We are going to make it!!
  23. @@Debbie623 - Dream the dream...I love that!
  24. @@JamieLogical - Hope you're right! I am on day 8 of the liquid diet and I lost 3lbs by the third day then regained and relost 1 lb but I haven't lost any more. That's just not right! After all this suffering I should be down at least a couple more pounds!! lol
