Sleep Apena ~*~ I need it!!!!
They hook you up to all kinds of sensors. I doubt if you can fake it. But, I was definite I didn't have sleep apnea but my doctor thought I might. I had moderate to severe sleep apnea. You may just have it too, who knows. They watch you sleep, monitor how your oxygen level goes down (that is key), you can't fake that, measure when you are in rem, how much you wake up, if you snore, all kinds of things! Good luck, hope your surgery gets approved. holly

Banded Yesterday 12/27
I was banded yesterday in Carrollton, Dr. Veninga. So far, no problems, I could get liquids down no problem. Not much pain since my doctor used the On-Q local pain medicine pump. I am still taking my loritab liquid though just in case. No one wants to be in pain right? No nausea, no vomiting, no gas so far. Well see how it goes. I did sleep in a recliner with my cpap. No problem. It felt a little uncomfortable to lie down flat in my bed. I am a side sleeper. I am supposed to be on ckear liquids first day, then full liquids for 2 weeks, and then mushies for 2 wks. After that, chew, chew, chew. I am trying to walk around as much as possible to get drinks, etc. And i'm also taking it easy watching TV. Yeah, it's done! Finally. :clap2:

How long (timewise) does it take to feel full?
How long does it take, once you can eat mushies, or even on full liquids, does it take most people to feel full? You know without the band, it's approximately 15-20 minutes before you feel full and then it's too late, you are too stuffed. holly:eek:

shoulder pain is not gas
I have heard that gas can be trapped in your body even in the shoulder area. Possibly from the anesthesia? not sure. Heating pad will help alot and eventually it will subside. I had a massage on a cruise and she found a little bubble of gas in my shoulder although I didn't have any pain from it. Weird, this gas thing. I am having surgery at 8 a.m. in the morning. Ready to go and hope I don't have any gas pain anywhere. I'll just keep on the pain meds and wait it out.:clap2: holly

Sleep Apena ~*~ I need it!!!!
I agree with not getting any sleep in the test. All I know, is I now have a CPAP... I don't remember my dreams, I don't wake up all night, and I have energy I didn't have. I was dragging around like a rag before. Also, I am not as hungry since your body trys to compensate for lack of energy by making you hungry. I never would have thought I had sleap apnea before. I know I do now.

Surgery was 12/12 - Questions
I am a woman and feel somewhat the same way. The only thing is that my doctors have both told me diets don't work, if they did we would all not have a weight problem. They both say only 5% of people are successful on losing weight and keeping it off. The reason I didn't tell anyone at work is because people who don't have a weight problem, don't understand! The usual comment is something like "Why don't you just stop eating!" We all know that does not work. Also, my doctor put me on optifast for 14 days to lessen the abdomen fat and clean out the system. Maybe its a test so see if I can do it, who knows? I feel okay on it, its easier at work than at home since at home my husband is eating and I can smell it!! 10 more days till surgery! :whoo:
