  1. Hi All, I had an RNY 3 years ago. I lost all of my weight (120 Lbs) then due to complications, was forced to have my RNY reversed a year ago with the intent to sleeve me as soon as it was safe to do so. Since the reversal at the end og August last year, I have gained back 50 Lbs. I have been fighting it with every ounce and have a personal trainer and an incredibly active workout schedule, and all it has done is slow the gain. I got t he call on Friday that I am booked for the sleeve on Aug 26. I know I am a bit unique as I am going from RNY to nothing to VSG. I guess what I am looking for is some support. I am ass backwards from most revisions and I am genuinely terrified that I will not lose the weight. I felt my best about 45 lbs ago and I want to know if there is honest hope that I will make it there again. I miss my RNY and have even considered going against advice and being re-RNY'd the complication that caused them to reverse the procedure has not reversed itself either (they knew that there was at best a 50% chance it would) I feel very much like it was for nothing and I have started to fight some serious depression. I am afraid to go out and be seen by friends because so many of them looked so harsely towards my decision to have the RNY and many people said that the weight lose was the surgery and not me and I am so afraid that they will think "haha, she failed" Yes I kow these aren't true friends but they are members of our social circle and I know it strikes a cord because I feel that way now inside myself. Trust me, I know how much BS that is. I k now how hard i worked with the RNY and the long term changes I have made because of the power it gave me but that evil malicious part inside me taunts me just the same. Sorry, I got lost in my vent there.... anyways, is there ANYONE out there who has revised from RNY to Sleeve? Or is there anyone out there that can help strengthen the belief that 45 lbs is NOT a reach. I hate myself right now and wish I had never lost the weight to begin with because I never would have known what I was missing. Also, I would dearly love some bariatric friends in my fitbit world to help keep me company and on track. my fitbit email is koeheather@gmail.com.... Looking for support Heather

    Bypass to Sleeve?

I didn't cheat with the RNY as the results were severe dumping... I need to believe that there will be restriction as that is the huge part of the tool that worked for me

    Need info

Hi, I have a complicated story and need some input. I won't go into a long story as it is quite twisty turny. Long and the short of it is that I had an RNY done 3 years ago and lost all my weight to goal in 9 months. I kept it off and loved my bypass. Then at the 2 year mark, I developed a rare side effect and the decision was made by my medical to team to reverse it to see if it would mitigate or relieve the effects/complication with the intent to sleeve me as soon as I was healed to continue with the restrictive aspect. (because it is not a common situation, they knew it was possible it would not help) They reversed it in Sept 2014. Again, I healed great but promptly started gaining (Even though I did my very best to maintain my RNY eating habits) in January 2015, I was cleared to have the sleeve done and I have been working out like crazy daily to hold the weight gain at bay. The complication is still an issue but we have resigned ourselves to that fact and have been managing it quite well. My sleeve date will be mid june.... Here is my query... I loved my RNY. I loved the restriction and everything about it. I hear so much about people failing the sleeve/the sleeve failing the people and converting to an RNY. I am very afraid that the sleeve won't be enough. I regained 40 lbs and only need to lose 40 to get back to goal. I would like to hear some feedback about the sleeve. Do you have restriction? Is it noticeable? Average weight loss? IS it a tool that can work? I know how the RNY works. Can I (if I use it properly and respect it) have an honest expectation to lose weight with the sleeve?

I am fortunate as the surgical team that did my reversal is the same team that will do the sleeve. When they did the reversal they had to remove a portion of the fundus was already removed. Sounds like similar rules... My biggest fear is that i won't feel the restriction. I am in Canada and because the reversal was deemed medically necessary and because sleeving me was part of the entire plan at the time of reversal, the sleeve will be covered here. I have been considering going self pay to re-RNY me (since undoing the rny did not resolve the issues, I could conceivably re-RNY with no additional impact) but if there is a chance I can achieve my 35-40 lb re-lose to goal with just a sleeve, then I (and my body) would be ok with the less drastic. I think the RNY was great and it did help me lose well over 120 lbs. I see that a lot of people also go from a sleeve to an RNY so its likely an option, if I need the stricter controls of the RNY, that this is something that could be explored later but I would really like whatever option I go with in June to be the last step. I went so far as to start looking into RNY surgeons as self pay last week but I think I need to get more feedback from the bariatric community (to be honest I was happy with the RNY being the only step and it makes me sick to my poor overly abused tummy that it was reversed...)
