Hi there! My surgery is scheduled for May 18th and I start a 4 week pre op diet on April 20th. I'm just curious about how long everyone's pre op diet was. I haven't met anyone yet that had a four week pre-op diet and it has me a little curious. my pre op diet is complete Meal Replacement that I have to buy through my surgeon's office. Mostly shakes and other Protein drinks that are like hot chocolate or juice drinks. I'm allowed to have one bar a day. My surgeon's office has a scale based on BMI and since I'm over 50 BMI I am in the four-week category. I've already been on a low carb diet for about 6 weeks now and I've lost 26 pounds but I'm still over 50 BMI. so I guess it's four weeks of liquid diet for me. so what was your experience like? How long was your pre op diet?

I'm scheduled for surgery on May 18th and my endoscopy is on May 6th. I guess I'm just not very sure about what they're looking for in the endoscopy. Mostly I'm worried that they will find something and I won't be able to have surgery. Can someone give me more information about what's going on in the endoscopy and if it's like a test I can fail? I'm feeling anxiety as this is the last hurdle between me and surgery. Thanks in advance!

I think I'll give it a go! I had a channel before when I lost weight through diet and exercise. I guess it's time to make it active again.

Does anyone have a YouTube to record their journey? I was thinking of starting one but I'm nervous of negative feedback or trolls. Also, I would just love to watch your videos!

I know this is old but I'm having surgery with Dr. Curry in May. So far I love his team. Everyone is so supportive and positive and I go to all the support group meetings.

I started making videos just saved to my computer for my own benefit but: just don't know about posting them. I love watching other people's videos but I'm terrible with editing and making things look cool. I think I might give it a try.

Surgery is May 18. I start my pre-op diet on April 20 for a four week liquid diet. I've been on a low carb diet per my nutritionists orders since February and I've lost 29 pounds on that so far. I've been getting discouraged because I thought almost 30 pounds would FEEL like something but my clothes don't seem different and I don't feel different. But today I realized my office chair at work isn't digging into my hips because of the arms anymore. I have wiggle room! A small thing. But I feel better now. Any NSV's before surgery for you guys?

Thanks Mary! It's really nice to hear from someone with the same long pre-op diet. I'm nervous about how hard it will be but I'm determined to do whatever I can to have a safe surgery and be successful. Thanks for the encouragement!

Hi Amy! The support group meets about once at month at the reading rd. office in Cincinnati. Sometimes it is in Columbus. There are usually about 15 or so people there and it's usually on Saturdays. If you ask they will sign you up for email reminders. There are different topics each month and I've learned a lot. But I would like more discussion between patients and this group feels a lot like a short class each time.

I'm in Middletown just north of Cincinnati having surgery May 18 with Dr. Trace Curry. Would love to join a support group. There is one for my doctors office monthly but not every month. I would love to meet other people going through the same process!
