  1. @@cadegirl Congratulations!!!! I'm so glad you are doing great! Maybe I'll see you in the office sometime. I'm 1 month out this upcoming Tuesday and life is wonderful! I wish you a very happy healthy journey!
  2. @@cadegirl Dr. Lavin was awesome! I've had no complications or problems. My incisions are small and healing nicely. Everyone at Crescent City Surgical Center was very nice and attentive. My husband said Dr. Lavin was very friendly and answered any questions talking with him and my family after surgery while I was in recovery. I know it can be nerve wrecking but id recommend anyone to use Dr. Lavin. I know one other person who had him as a surgeon who is 8 months out and she is doing great. My mom had the surgery in Slidell with another member of his group and she is almost a year out and doing great! Overall I'm very happy with the whole practice. I'd say you are in good hands! Good luck and have fun loosing weight. It feels awesome!
  3. A co worker who had the surgery 8 months before me gave me this idea and I started it last night. (I am one week post op). Pick a night a week and take a full body pic of you in a tank or cami and shorts. Each week on the same night take a picture in the same outfit. I had my husband take my picture last night. I can't wait to see what next week looks like. No one will probably ever see these pics but me and my husband but I think it will be awesome to see!

    HAD SURGERY 3/31/15

I had that same feeling but it has gone away. Pre-op the dr gave me the hyoscyamine tablets to dissolve under my tongue 4 times a day for after surgery. Those are what stopped that squeezing in my chest feeling for me. ????

    HAD SURGERY 3/31/15

Sleeved 3/31. Im back at work today. Standing up and sitting down is a lil sore but nothing awful. I'm a lil tired but not exhausted. No one at work knows I had it done except for 2 co-workers. Did anyone else go back to work yet?

    HAD SURGERY 3/31/15

Just wanted to check back in. I had my surgery on 3/31. Things are going pretty good. I am able to move around pretty well. Riding in the car is a little painful as I still feel every bump in the road. But it is getting better. I took off my nausea patch yesterday and I am happy to say that I haven't been nauseous at all. I was even able to go get a manicure and pedicure yesterday! Reading all of the posts, I realized that my diet is a lot different from most people. I am on clear liquids for this whole week. I can drink Water pretty easily. I've had sugar free popsicles and fudgsicles. Yesterday I tried to eat sf Jello but only made it through about 1/2 a container before I was full. I am not supposed to start Protein supplement drinks and smoothies (no added fruit) until Day 7. I don't start on mushy foods until week 3 (days 15-21). My head tells me I need to eat but my body is not hungry. I am looking forward to being to enjoy meals with my husband. Right now, he is trying not to eat in front of me. Even though I tell him it is ok, he is worried that it will be hard for me. I told him that next week I would let him take me out to a Chinese place that we like. I figure I can have the egg drop Soup. I am trying to keep positive about my weight loss. I have lost 13 pounds and I know that is a good number for 5 days after surgery. But I see some of you have lost 20+ pounds. When my mom had the surgery last year, she lost 20 pounds in the first week. I'm moving and not eating anything I am not supposed to. I know everyone is different. Maybe when I start with the protein, more weight will fall off. I guess I am just being impatient...
  7. Good evening. I am a newbie. I was sleeved on 03/31/2015. One of my favorite foods is boiled crawfish. I know I can't have any real food yet. I'm still on Clear liquids. So far so good. Today my husband and I got out of the house and sat by the river for a bit to enjoy the fresh air. I could smell so many different places boiling crawfish. I have not been hungry since the surgery but the smell of crawfish got in my head. When I move through the stages, will crawfish be ok? Will it hurt me? Has anyone out there had crawfish after surgery and if so, how long after and did it hurt? I am hoping that in a month or 2 I can have a few crawfish again. I appreciate any advice. Thank you!

    Crawfish - Friend or foe?

Thank you everyone! I'm good with waiting until the appropriate time to have crawfish I'm just glad they are not off the table forever! @@divine42514 I can't imagine 6 crawfish filling me up. But I am excited for that too!
  9. My mom used Surgical Specialists of Louisiana and Dr. Warden did her surgery. I had my sleeve done on 3/31/2015 with Dr. Lavin. A co-worker also used Dr. Lavin. I highly recommend Surgical Specialists of Louisiana. They have offices in Gulfport, MS, Slidell, LA, Covington, LA, New Orleans, LA, Lafayette, LA. Not sure if they have any additional offices.

    HAD SURGERY 3/31/15

I was sleeved on 03/31/2015. So far so good. I spent one night in the hospital and was able to go home before lunch the next day. I still have the nausea patch that they put on me prior to surgery. I'm kinda scared to take it off. So far I have not really been hungry. I'm drinking lots of Water and have had a few sugar free popsicles. I haven't tried anything else. I get a tightness in my chest (like someone is squeezing and then letting go) after I drink anything or have a popsicle. It is real quick and goes away real fast. Every now and then it happens when I'm just sitting up. I think it is the gas from surgery trying to force its way out. My followup appointment is on Thursday. If its not better by then, I will take with my doctor about it. I'm trying not to worry too much. I'm excited for what the future has in store.
