For those interested here’s my story!

Prior to surgery I really was not one that over indulged on sweets or snacks other than Soda's!  Growing up I was always a little heavier than most but it didn't really begin to climb to unhealthy levels until after my first year in college.  I will say that my early 20's were not easy being Overweight & Gay as the expectation from other like-minded individuals were all about the ripped and lean look!  That played hell on my self-esteem as I’m sure it would anyone.  Thank God I was and I am a very strong and independent person and was able to push those feelings aside and still be the outgoing person I am today.

With that being said.....Over the years I've struggled with maintaining a healthy weight as it has yo-yoed throughout my journey with the different diets I have tried (weight watchers, Atkins, Counting Calories, etc..) over the years.  I did have some success with these diets however, I never reached my goals due to the fact that the amount of weight loss needed to reach the goal was usually a 100lbs or more.  Weight loss was usually slow and I always seemed to lose my drive 6-8 months out when I began to plateau.  I've joined a gym in the past and that helped some but when you don't see major changes over a 6 month period due to all the excess weight it becomes destructive to the mission!
I was diagnosed with Low T (testosterone) about 6 years ago which played a big part of my weight gain over the years and also explained why in my teenage years I had developed a mild case of gynecomastia which finally gave me a medical reason an understanding as to why I was plagued with man boobs all those years….pardon the pun! Lol Before surgery a typical day of meals was a decent breakfast usually fast food with a Soda of course.....due to work I usually didn't eat again until late in the evening after I got home and that was usually a normal sized meal.  After all the education I have gotten so far throughout this journey I realized that the size of the meals and timing between meals were not the only issue.....the issues were in what I was eating and not truly being knowledgeable on the contents of the things that I was consuming!  This journey has opened my eyes on nutrition and health and I know that over the months to come I will learn so much more!
