I am 67 years old. I am the mother of 2 boys 1 girl and the grandmother of 3 boys and 1 girl. I have been diagnosed with an auto-immune disease called Sjogren's. It inflames the joints and causes dry eye an mouth. I was complaining a lot about joint pain and my rhuematologist told me I needed to lose weight. He originally wanted me to do lapband. I waited for at least 3 years before I decided to to the surgery. My AC1 had increased and advanced age diabetes is prevalent in my family. My rhuematologist got me the name of Advance Laproscopic. I went to their Forum on the different surgeries. I asked a simple question, "if you enjoy food and like to cook which surgery is the one you should do". The answer was the gastric sleeve. With much trepidation I followed up with Dr Trevedi asked a lot of questions and decided to do it. It definitely is a life style change and I am only 1 year out. I still have trouble finding things to eat that are satisfying for me but every day it gets a little better. Lunch and breakfast are the most difficult for me.
