  1. Good luck Hoppy and Jes! Let us know how things went....I go the 16th
  2. Jb1176- I have surgery the 16 th too! I had similar thoughts until I found this site as well. I know I can do this, I just a a little support to tell me when to stop eating! I think this will be great for me. I work in healthcare and see soooo many sleeve and bypass patients that have terrible complications and/or gain the wt right back. I rarely see band patients and if I do, they admit they never followed the plan or used the band as a tool. Several had revisions to sleeves/bypass but the same regaining of the wt. This makes ME and only me accountable if it works or not. We have some April band buddies on the pre-op thread....come join us
  3. Welcome Trutay! My surgery is the 16 th in Pittsburgh, I stay overnight, have an upper GI then go home. Hoppy5- will be sending you positive thoughts tomorrow!! Let us know how it goes and how you're doing...when you feel up to it. Kristi
  4. Glad to hear it went well!! My surgery is the 16th. I'm excitedly nervous. Just want to get it over with and start my new lifestyle
  5. So sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad when I was 27...it's hard anytime. I firmly believe he is always with me and my family, I sense his presence all the time. I hope you have the same comfort in knowing your Dad is proud of you and will stand with you no matter what. Kristi
  6. @KateP...I definitely want to eat "like a European", just hoping small utensils early on will help me with that!
  7. Good to know JustWatchMe and KateP!! Thanks. I bought a set of appetizer forks and spoons because I know otherwise I will take too big a bite!! I'm hoping they help me to retrain my brain
  8. That's awesome that you guys are having positive effects from the pre diet. I called my surgeon and again asked if I should do it....she still says nope. But I feel I need to jump start this.....considering doing something similar to Hoppy for the 5 days pre op.
  9. Thanks B52....makes sense to me! I don't want to eat the way I do now, that's why I'm doing this! Lol Guess I'll play it by ear then...doesn't sound as terrible as some had portrayed:)
  10. Thanks bandista and Julie! Glad it's not "vomiting"....I will do just about anything to avoid vomiting! Lol So it's best to get the item up vs drinking or waiting for it to pass?
  11. So I'm having surgery April 16th and my biggest fear is a stuck episode. It sounds terrible and inevitable ???? I understand how it happens and what to do to avoid it BUT what do you do when it happens?? Do you wait it out? Vomit (not safe and I hate to vomit)? Drink something? I just want to know what to do when and if it happens....????
  12. After we all have our bands we need to make a thread on the "post surgery" side April 2015....there is a Band Buddies July 2013 still going strong with almost 900 posts!! We can do this, together!! ????????????
  13. I got and tried a protein supplement, Genepro, which I read about here. It mixes with cold and hot liquids and is tasteless. So I put it in coffee this AM but kind of plopped it in and it had small clumps. Retried this afternoon, stirring while I added it to the decaf coffee and magic! It dissolved completely and was tasteless. 1 scoop has 98 cal, .5 fat and 30 Gm protein!! It kept me from feeling hungry I got it on amazon. Kristi
  14. Hi Hoppy5! You will be one week ahead of Peggy and I. How has the liquid diet gone? At this point I'm excited nervous but I'm sure closer to the date I'll just be nervous!! What is your main concern? Kristi
  15. Nope :/. It's probably set up to not connect folks. You can email me at kwacdra at gmail dot com
  16. Awesome Peggy! I almost wish she made do the 10 day thing...it worries me not too!! But I trust my surgeon. We will be twins through this What area are you from? I'm from Pittsburgh Pa
  17. Hi there! I'm scheduled for the 16th and I'm very excited and a little nervous. I don't have to do the 10-14 day liquid diet...she only does that in those with BMI's 45 or higher. My liver labs and chol are low as well (got some good genes with the bad ). I'll be a band buddie with you if you want. I have 100 to loose, have lost 20 on the 5 mon diet plan. I've been doing tons of research and reading to prepare myself. Bought my magic bullet mixer, several protein mixes and just ordered appetizer size forks and spoons. I know I take too big of bites now!! I'm hoping these help. We can do this!!! ????
  18. Thats awesome!! My surgery is April 16th. I hope things go as smoothly for me! Keep up the good work
  19. JoJoNYC - That's awesome! Keep up the good work Kristi
  20. I too have waited many years thinking about WLS. I work in healthcare and see so many bypass complications that haunt patients for years. I don't see band patients though (I work in a bariatric hospital). I have the issue that even though I know I'm overweight I don't feel overweight. I'm very active and "see" myself skinnier then I really am. I lost 110 lbs in one year (11 yrs ago) doing Atkins/exercise.....kept it off for 2-3 yrs then it started to creep back. I've gained 60 back total, so not a total loss! I decided on getting banded this past fall, have done all the work for approval (lost 18 lbs too!) and got my surgery date today! April 16th will be here before I know it!! I wish you the best with your band and know that we are taking a great step towards healthier lives!!!
