  4. Thanks for all the info. I checked with my insurance and they said it's covered but only with authorization from medical group. I just got approved for first step. Insurance company said once approved i would pay only $300 out of pocket with max of. $600 if I had complications. Not bad at all because I was prepared to pay more. I hope I get approved from medical group
  5. I'm going to orientation tonight. From there. I will get appt with surgeon to get surgery options and then was told will check if insurance covers bariatric surgery... Which I'm told it does. I just want to find out what my out of pocket will be. Also I'm seeing Dr Krahn and Dr Chin in San Bernardino. Was wondering if anyone had been there too
  6. I have United healthcare. I just got approved to see surgeon. I go to orientation this week. How long will it take from that point. I know I'm at the beginning.
  7. Bloomer don't give up. I was denied 3 times in almost three years. Finally got approved to see surgeon this week

  10. There were many times I wanted to give up... But I refused. "No" is not the answer for me
  11. I'm 47 and have 25 yr old daughter. Struggled my whole life too. Just got approved to see surgeon's going to orientation next week and can't wait. Good luck
  12. Queencity yes 3 years but because I didn't qualify. I was about 10 lbs under and didn't have other factors such as diabetes high blood pressure. Plus didn't have pcp that was on my side. But was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and helped along adding 10 lbs to weight. Just going for orientation next week.. Hoping this process will be fast. 2 sisters have had successful surgery and one sister going in for surgery next week.. So I know what to expect with that part. I just wanted to know wait time with my insurance.
  13. It took me three years to get clearance from pcp to go to weight loss center (surgeon). I could have went on my own if I was private pay.. But not an option. Insurance finally approved after 3 denials. Going to orientation next week. I have United health care seeing Dr Krahn and Dr Chin in San Bernardino.CA. Does anyone know what the wait period is between orientation and surgery with my insurance?
  14. Wow.. One year? Congrats. Weekday insurance do you have
  15. that's a good question. I have been trying get surgery since 2013 nad been denied. I have 35 bmi, but needed to 2 or more co-morbidity factors, diabeties, high bllod pressure or sleep apnea. I had sleep study done, and was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea, just 2 months ago. i hope I dont need to do that again.
  16. After 2-1/2 years and 3 denials and more dr visits than I can say, insurance finally approved for me to see a surgeon. although 2 of my sisters have had successful surgery and third sister having surgery next week, I still dont know what to expect, because insurance is different. I am going in next week for orientation to see Dr Krahn and Dr Chin in San bernardino. I have United health care HMO, so I would like to know is how long after this initial appt, can I expect to have surgery. also I am about 10 lbs under what I need to qualify and I have worn weights to my primary, dr to get approved. I think I will still need them. Will they check to see if I am wearing weights?
