  1. @@Bluesea71 I traveled 90minutes each way to see a therapist that fit their requirements (I was given an approved list) that would also be able to get me in 3x before my final surgeon visit on march 17.
  2. Eeeks! I do not want to deal with other people. At this point, I wish I had not told my mom and sister. I wish I had just told everyone I had stomach cancer and they have to cut some of my stomach off so now I have to follow a diet like folks that have done WLS. Not a complete farce.. this is a disease and what this is doing to my life is like a cancer. I don't want to explain every little thing to everyone. People that are close to me and care will only ask out of love, but I don't want to hear it or see it on their face or any of it. Ugh!
  3. @@JamieLogical .. Hi Jamie.. I agree with you. If these people are getting any education on their disease and/or surgery/nutrition, they are not showing it to us. Or, as you said, maybe they are ignoring it. It's so weird to me they are not required to do therapy/support groups/nutrition classes. They obviously need it. .. They are sort of just left out on an island all alone to figure it out for themselves. At least, that is the way the show makes it look.
  4. @@Sharon1964 .. I appreciate your comments, Sharon. I had no idea I was being overcharged. This isn't something I've done before. I am definitely going to address this, in writing, once she is signed off tomorrow and my surgeon tells me I am all clear and have a surgery date. The price is obscene, it's not covering even the issue I was sent there for (which was ridiculous in itself) and I have to travel 90 each way to see her.
  5. @@Cococat ..Good instincts.. you described her pretty well and yes, I feel like she is telling me not to get the surgery. My visits (tomorrow is the last thank goodness) was never even about her discussing surgery. I was referred because the evaluator decided I need to see someone based on my 400 question survey that her computer spit out stats on. It's all nerve wracking. I am just glad I can get her signed off of my list tomorrow.
  6. @@Cleo's Mom ..The psych eval woman gives her recommendation to the surgeon and he signs off on it then it became a required hoop to jump thru. The surgeons office gave me the referral list of Master Level therapists that I could choose from, based on the evaluators recommendation that I discuss moving on from my divorce 8 years ago before undergoing surgery.

  8. @@Jerr_Bear Hi Jerr.. the person I am seeing is based on the referral list from my surgeon.
  9. @@Thinside I know exactly what you mean.. do these insurance companies even understand what demographic they are dealing with? Good grief.. If I get some momentum going because I can see a light at the end of this tunnel then why punish me? To me, it only says that I am motivated and will be a success. I've had the same story from my team at the bariatric center about being denied just before for losing too much. I am stressed to gills over this.
  10. @@ProjectMe ...Hi, thanks for responding.. The reason her questioning me was getting on my nerves was because after my psych eval I was required to see a Master Level therapist (on their approved list) to discuss moving on from divorce for 3 sessions where I get to pay $150 each out of my pocket and drive 90m each way. She is not part of my bariatric team and has no reason to go on and on at me like I need her approval. (I wasn't put off my casual questioning to get to know me). I filed for and divorced him in 2008 so wasn't sure why I needed to do that at all but was wiling to jump thru the necessary hoops. I decided to have a positive attitude about it and try to get my moneys worth then got this lady. Ugh! I have my final appt with surgeon next Tuesday so didn't want to bother with rescheduling with someone else. I will let them know, once I am approved, about my experience so they can decide if they should continue to send folks to her.
  11. Is there anyone out there doing this chemical free? I don't want any GMO anything and it needs to be organic as well. I like Garden of Life GMO free AND organic Protein powder. It only has 100 calories, but it's lacking in protein at only 15mg. People are talking about sugar free this and that and of course if your brain works like mine all you hear is CHEMICALS.. I can't do the chemical substitutes. Besides going against everything I believe, I get insane stabbing headaches from sugar free. If you know of tasty things that are allowed pre and post-op... please advise? I would love to hear from someone who has been successful and did it 100% organic and GMO free.

  13. I turned 18 on 10/01/1989 and weighed my highest up until that point at 118.. by the time the summer of 1990 came, 9months later, I weighed 174lbs and losing a bit less for about a year in 2008, I have never gotten lower than that. So.. my goal was 140lbs (43 y/o, 2 kids, post menopausal)..My surgeon INSISTS on me weighing 115. Is he just being pushy or has anyone had results similar to that at all? My sister thinks I'm just scared to believe it could happen so I won't let myself go there. I am not sure, but my surgeon is unrelenting in his trying to push this 115 on me. I just don't want to set an unreasonable goal and feel like I failed if I cannot meet it.
  14. Anyone with information, please advise. I have two questions. 1.) For the most part, I can open gel caps and dump the powder in with Protein powder, but what about pills you can't dump out or find in a liquid? Like what if you are in an accident and you get sent home with pain meds? will a pill fill us up so we can't eat? 2.) Does medication effect us differently after surgery the way they say alcohol will? I take medication to sleep and now I wonder, am I allowed to swallow it and also will the dose I am used to seem crazy high?
  15. @@2/2015RN .. Hi.. I was excited to see your post. I am in the SE Valley in SanTanValley/Queen Creek. I won't have surgery until April, but was hoping to find more people from AZ on here to go through it all with.

  18. Thank you for everyone who responded. I saw her again today and I will definitely be letting my Dr. office know she may not really be suited for this...once I am done. I still see her one more time this Thursday & then I am done. Today she asked me if I had been to any support groups. I told her I had and she asked if I had any documentation to show my attendance.. HUH??? UM NO, I don't? She went on.. "For me to make a recommendation..." I stopped her there and let her know I didn't need her recommendation. I reminded her of what my referral stated which was 3 visits to discuss moving on after a divorce.. GOOD GOSH, I never wanted to rehash my ex and my marriage more than I did today LOL.. would have been much better than her weird comments. "You really don't look all that big to not be able to tackle this on your own." .. Eye Roll .. I am 5'1 and 210lbs.. Really? I have multiple morbidities. A couple of which are preventing me from working out properly and effectively. I just cannot get over this woman.

On the other "April Sleevers" thread a gal has started a private FB page for us to get together on. If you are interested go to that thread and it's towards the end I think where the information is. I just grabbed a few names from this thread to Tag so maybe others can tag a few more. I like the idea of it being on FB and since it's secret no one on your FB will know you belong to it. It seems more intimate and easier to chat and share and really get to know one another. Hope to see you there!

  22. @@tbkent ... I would like to have a private FB group as well. It would be so much easier for me to converse and share on. I would make a new FB solely dedicated to WLS though because I don't want every person on my Facebook knowing my business.
  23. @@CandyCrushVSG .. Hi CandyCrush.. You will only benefit yourself the sooner you get used to our new life. The more you lose now, the less there is for later. You should always ask your surgeon, but it seems only good can come from the two week prep time.
  24. Good afternoon, folks! I noticed a few people saying they have less than a two week liquid diet pre-op. I was told I am required to do that because it shrinks your liver and make surgery safer and aids in a quicker recovery. I know everyone is different as are their surgeons, but you may want to Inquire at your next visit. Wishing everyone the very best outcome and quick recovery.
  25. I'm very concerned. And from reading it seems not everyone's weigh in on surgery day means much, but we seem to be in the same boat, Ocean.
