  1. T minus 8 days for me!!!!!
  2. Nervous seems to be the general emotion for all of us. With a little excited and terrified thrown in for good measure. Lol
  3. Finally! Someone else who has a 21 day pre-op diet! I've been feeling so annoyed with my nut these days!
  4. @kazza58. So great to hear success stories! I'm scheduled for surgery on March 24th and really starting to feel nervous about it. I'm struggling with this pre-op diet and have had a particularly bad cheat day today! ???? thank you for reminding of the goal ahead - better health and mobility!
  5. So I found a March Sleeve 2014 group. I wonder if I made a 2015 group and spread the word on here, if anyone would join ????
  6. One week down; two more to go!!!
  7. i tried to find it but nothing came up for me. Did you have any luck?
  8. You'll be great! Drink lots of water, tea whatever! I bought some crystal light which has helped a lot. Great side effect of this liver shrinking is that I'm shrinking a little too! Averaging about .8 lb per day!
  9. I'm on day 6 of a 3-week pre-op diet. Doing ok so far. Yesterday was tough though. I'm not really hungry just annoyed lol. I am allowed 4 high protein ensure and 3/4 cup of Greek yoghurt. I see what some others are allowed and I feel like stomping my foot and saying "no fair"! Lol - but since I'm not 7, I'm trying to suck it up. I'd just love a piece of toast right now though!
  10. This is exactly why I didn't tell anyone but my husband and a friend who are both going through the motions for surgery too. I told my mom and sad I was in the hospital when I was in recovery. Nothing before hand. And afterward I told them it was a hernia repair. When people start noticing/asking maybe I'll consider telling them. But as of right now, I don't need their negativity. I support the decision to keep quiet about it. Same here! I am hard enough on myself without opening myself up to external judgements! But seriously, negativity impacts our recovery and I, for one, can't risk that.
  11. More about me: lol kinda relevant and can't believe I forgot! My start weight was 258 and I've lost 18 pounds so far. Have high cholesterol, crazy high blood pressure (both controlled with meds) and arthritis. Cannot wait to feel healthy again and perhaps take less pills everyday ????
  12. I've been reading a lot of posts about people who are supporting each other as surgery date buddies. I think that's such a great idea and thought I'd try to find one too. A little about myself: I'm a 51 year old, mother of 6 (yours, mine & ours family). Have 2 amazing grandchildren and a wonderfully supportive hubby. We live in northern Alberta, Canada. My husband is originally from eastern Oregon so we travel back and forth a lot. I started my WLS journey in January 2014 and have worked with dieticians, exercise therapist, councillor and doctor. I was approved for surgery in May 2014 and have been patiently waiting for this surgery date. Ok, maybe not patiently! Lol I'm not expecting a perfect match just someone who might be able to relate to the struggle of balancing this procedure with family and work life.
  13. I'm scheduled for the 24th too! We are practically twins! Lol
  14. So very encouraging! I am wearing size 22 now at day 5 of my pre-op diet. Have my surgery on March 24th. I have been doing everything the doc and dietician tell me too as well. I cannot wait to feel healthy again! Thank you so much for sharing your story!
  15. Man can I relate! We took our little girls to silver wood last summer and our 6 year old - who is very tiny- couldn't go on a ride cause I couldn't fit in it with her. We watched my hubby and our 7-year-old have a blast. Hubby took the little one on but I felt so humiliated! Can't wait to ride all the rides with them this summer!
  16. I am really struggling with my pre op diet so decided I needed to think about some of the things I'm looking forward to as I loose the weight. Here's what I've got so far: Not feeling like having a shower is a work-out, being able to easily tie my shoes, not hiding behind oversized clothing and not avoiding mirrors and reflective objects! I'd love to hear what everyone else, particularly folks who are in the pre op diet stage, are looking forward to.
  17. I can't wait for this stuff!
  18. I hear you! I can't really say I'm hungry, but just so unsatisfied. I keep telling myself that the shakes taste good and have enough calories for me to feel full but they are not yummy! I know I can get through these next few weeks and that surgery has been my goal though. I am looking forward to my new life and being able to do so many things I can't do now because of my weight. Only 17 more days till surgery!
  19. I'm only closing in on tDay 2. Only 19 more to go! Woo hoo!
  20. Day two has been tough for me too. Ready for bed! I did have a sugar free Jello which was amazing lol. My hubby made mac n cheese for him and our girls (I hate Mac n cheese). I so wanted to sneak a spoon full!
  21. My pre-op diet is 3 weeks. I'm allowed 4 high protein ensure and 3/4 cup of plain Greek yogurt. Seems extreme but I'm gonna keep doing whatever they ask. I would love to have some broth though! Lol
  22. I'm on the 24th too! Almost made it through day two of pre-op diet. I lost 1.6 pounds yesterday which is a nice bonus!
  23. My dietician didn't say anything about broths, Popsicles or jello! I get 4 high protein ensure & 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt and calorie free beverages - water, tea, coffee. That's it. Those other things would really help. I made it through yesterday but the evening was rough. Tummy is quite noisy this morning lol!
  24. I've almost made it through day 1 of my pre-op diet. Heading to bed very soon. All I can think about right now is a snack so it's best I go sleep! Lol
