I think honesty is the best policy. My mom recently got diagnosed with congestive heart failure and she waited to tell me and told others first. I had to hear it from someone else before she told me herself. I thought "I'm her daughter why wouldn't she tell me first?" So it hurt me. It made me feel like my mom didn't trust me or we weren't close. Who knows she could be your biggest cheerleader and advocate if you tell her! And she's going to know eventually so why hide it?

I'm 23. I would way rather have my me tell the truth. It may make them angry when they find out you lied. Just explain that you would like to keep it private. Hopefully they understand that. Plus it's a good time to discuss the lifestyle changes you will be going through.

Nice to meet you! Yeah I'm really nervous because I tried going through the process and was doing the supervised diet but went through a bad breakup and got really depressed and stopped going. Idk the requirements yet but I think I will have a 6 month supervised diet. I have blue cross blue shield ppo of Illinois. I think it's scary because we know it will be a huge commitment and life change and it's hard to imagine now. But I was reading some stories of people post op and it really gets me excited. I'm nervous about the cost. I know it's nerve wracking but just think of all the positives.
