  1. I can not believe it!!! After all of the problems I have had and now I finally got approved!!! Thank the Lord! My surgery is next Thursday 9/24!! I can't quit smiling!
  2. I love all the ideas and helpful tips! @@Daisee68 I tried the timer thing last night and it was so much harder than I thought it would be!! I definitely need to practice more. @@mskami77 What you said rang a bell with me. My mother said the same thing a few days ago!
  3. So is it an app or just your stopwatch thing? I'm trying to explore all options and ways to s-l-o-w down.
  4. So I am a fast eater and honestly I haven't practiced eating slower prior to surgery. However, I am going to start this week and wanted to know if y'all had any helpful tricks/ideas that you do that helps? I know that putting the fork down in between bites is one, but it seems like I forget that really quick. What have y'all found that works the best for eating slower? I hate vomiting and want to avoid that at all costs, so eating slower is something I need to learn!
  5. *Update** So my surgeon's office called insurance and found out they accidentally left out a year of my charts showing that I was overweight. So now they have resubmitted and hopefully I will have good news here soon! Keeping my fingers crossed.
  6. I have BC/BS of AL... hopefully I can get this fixed and get approved.
  7. omg! I can not believe my insurance company! They denied me stating there is not sufficient medical records showing I have been overweight for 3 years. Seriously??? I mean seriously. ugh. Okay, my rant is over... I will definitely be resubmitting and jumping through their hoops.
  8. You're only a couple hours away! It would be cool to have someone that close to share experiences back and forth with... So where are you at in the process?
  9. I have blue cross/blue shield. It's not quite anthem, but has a lot of similar traits. My surgeon's office has sent off for my approval about a week ago and still haven't heard anything back. I can let you know if I get approved and how long it took once I find something out if you would like? I'm so nervous right now playing the waiting game!
  10. That sounds like an awesome idea! I should be having surgery soon and it would be fantastic to share problems, ideas, and post op life with people my age.
  11. I live in Virginia Beach, VA. How about you?
  12. I'm 25 and currently waiting on Insurance approval. Hopefully I will get a big APPROVED this week!!
  13. I'm very excited about the trip! I have talked to my surgeon and he said I would be fine, but will have a follow post op too. 2015 so far has been a busy crazy year! Still can't believe I'm actually having this surgery!
  14. I did call this morning and sure enough they only want me to have 20 grams a day, but they said I'm allowed to go up to 40 if I'm starving. Just madness. lol They said its to help shrink my liver which I knew, but I thought that more protein would not have made a huge difference. @@Madeleine Renee I did a semi-liquid diet a few weeks ago and the first day I was hungry too, but by the 3rd day I was okay. I guess the body kind of adjusts. You got this!! Congrats on the surgery date mine is the next week! I'm so nervous and excited all at the same time.
  15. I'm so excited to go to Disney World too! We will be there November 7th to the 14th and I'm super pumped! Hopefully your surgery went well and you are doing great. Yes, please let me know how it was when you get back. I bet you will have a blast! Congrats on the weight loss too!! I read where the dole whip's are not that bad for you, but I'm going to double check it first. At least we all will get plenty of walking in.
  16. It does have a lot of other liquids I can have like sugar free fudge pops, Jello, broth, and milk. I'm not allowed any solids at all not even fruit. Now that wouldn't be terrible but this whole 20 grams of Protein to me is just craziness. I thought maybe it was a typo, but two different places on the sheet it says low protein liquid diet.... I'm guessing they are serious, but I will call today.
  17. I'm having surgery this month too and from Virginia Beach VA.
  18. Hi all! So I will be starting my pre-op liquid diet next week and I just noticed that my paper says for me to only drink 20 grams of Protein a day. That is seriously one protein shake! I'm going to starve. Lol On a serious not does anyone else's liquid diet call for such a low amount of protein? Thanks!
  19. My insurance says 6 consecutive months. Which means if you have an appointment 6/19 then you need another appointment on or before the 30th day after your 6/19 appointment.
  20. I did read my policy and had my surgeon's office read it and nowhere does it say I have to lose weight. But I'm just wondering would they deny me since I did gain some weight originally. My surgeon is requiring me to lose at least 10 pounds by surgery which isn't bad. Good Luck with your weigh in!!
  21. My weight loss goal is at least 10-15 lbs. I have switched my diet to a High protein Low Carb diet and its working thus far! I have lost 5 pounds in the past 2 weeks alone. So excited to finally find something to help me lose weight. I haven't started drinking the Protein Shakes yet, but I have in the past. I planned to start those in July since I will have to drink them for a week straight before surgery and after surgery. What's helped you not be so hungry just being on a liquid diet? I think that is what I will struggle with(being hungry all the time).
  22. Losing so quick you need smaller sizes constantly is a problem I would like to have
  23. I honestly haven't prepped for it. I guess I'll use some rope to hold my pants up! LOL. Thrift store shopping is a great idea though my surgery will be end of August. What did you buy thus far, like 2-3 sizes smaller than you currently are?
