  1. @@sassycas45 I am on day 13 and the scale isn't moving. I only have myself to blame because I'm not following the rules. I've even snuck in a few cheese cubes (aka a dozen). What the heck?!? I am struggling to get in my protein and water too. It tastes gross to me. My husband said, "Just hold your nose!" Easier said than done. I am on full fluids until Day 18, when the pureed food starts. I know everyone has a different experience but I am so disappointed with myself! I thought I was stronger than this. I lost more weight pre op than I am losing now. I lost 49 lbs. pre op. I have only lost 10-14 since surgery......meaning I have weighed between 253 and 257 all week. I broke down and ordered some unflavored protein and am going to add some of that to my drinks today and see if I can detect anything. I feel like a whiner. I've got to get this right!
  2. Good evening everyone! It's encouraging to read that the majority of you are doing well with your recent surgeries. I am 10 days out and every day I am feeling a bit better. It has been challenging getting the protein and fluids in. I am up to two premier proteins and one thinned greek yogurt a day with about 40 ounces of water. Today was the second day I was able to do that. I am not putting too much stock into what the scale is telling me because I am all over the place. I was down three pounds yesterday and then again today. This must be fluid loss from surgery. Nobody loses three pounds a day! One thing that shocked me is that the Syntrax Nectars I seemed to love before surgery all taste disgusting to me right now. They are literally gagging me. I had to go buy some premier shakes which aren't the best but I am tolerating them. I still find myself staring at the potato chips every time I go in the kitchen and asked my husband to hide them if he is going to eat them. That is my crack! To date, I am down 14 pounds from surgery and 53 pounds total since Jan 29th when I began this crazy journey. I have no regrets thus far but I am really getting sick of liquids!!! I have been daydreaming about food that is off limits! The head hunger is still there!!! It's the worst.
  3. Just walk and use your spirometer and you will get through it. Its not that bad...at least to me.
  4. Hello everyone! I am still in Baja California, Mexico. I had my VSG surgery yesterday afternoon and was discharged this morning and am now back at my hotel. It went AMAZING! I have had no gas pain...in fact aside from being a little foggy headed, my tummy is only slightly sore...not at the incisions, just inside. My doctors were totally amazing and had such a great bedside manner. Dr. Ortiz gave me two huge hugs and told me I was beautiful and told me he wants to see my after photos. Talk about blushing. I felt like a teenager. The facility was so clean and the staff were all kind and beyond caring. This was such a good experience and I can only hope that you all have the same. I plan to go down to the shopping district and pick up a few trinkets to take back. That's all I have to report. I wish you all great success!!
  5. The most pain you've ever felt? Oh gosh I was worried about that. I'm glad you are healing well. I have some of those Gas X strips packed but if they didn't give you any relief. Are you still having the pain now? Good luck with your continued loss! Mine is Monday.
  6. @@Spicy06 I'm so happy you are doing good! I have heard of the one incision but I don't think that is offered where I am going. That should make it a heck of a lot easier healing, yeah? So you get to have soft food this early? Wonderful!! I am clear liquids for a week after I'm pretty sure. I guess clear proteins count...I get so mixed up. I have to go back and re read sometimes. I just think it's anxiety. How's your energy level? And no more nausea? I'm happy for that after hearing about how it was initially. Please continue to keep us posted!
  7. You look amazing!!! I hope I am as successful as you are!

  10. @@ladycook9713 I think there are a few of us that are really nervous. It happened really fast for me too. I made the phone call on Jan29th and my surgery is March 23rd. I have wanted to have WLS for years but my never had insurance that purchased the WLS rider in their coverage. I didn't even think about being private pay until this year. If I waited around for my insurance to cover it...it may not ever happen. I hope for you that your nerves settle down. I'm sure a lot of that is pure excitement and adrenaline!! Wishing you great success!!

  12. I am having a really good day today. I don't know why I am in such a good mood. Well, I do know why but I haven't really felt happy on the inside in such a long time. Things in my life have been rough for a couple of years and lately, I feel like there is hope. I have so much to be thankful for...I swear I think someone spiked my protein shake! hehehe Speaking of my shake...I made this amazing concoction, consisting of: 1 heaping scoop of Syntrax Nectar in Crystal Sky' 1 packet of Crystal Light Lemonade Ice Water It tastes like a lemon-berry slushie and I am enjoying it. I don't feel deprived or hungry. Just happy. That's all! 10 days until surgery. *Doing a happy dance*
  13. I am having my sleeve surgery in Mexico on March 23rd.
  14. Spicy I am so happy you are doing okay!!! I was one of the worriers I have to admit. You are the first person that I've read about that didn't suffer from that horrible gas pain but it sounds like you had your own issues. You poor thing...that had to be rough having the dry heaves with incisions in your belly. I hope that you're healing and I will keep you in my thoughts. Let us know how it's going. Are you just drinking water now? Able to take in anything else?
  15. I got on the scale this morning and am down 2 pounds from yesterday. I still think I'm retaining fluids because my wedding ring is tight and it had been really loose a week ago. I think I'm still being haunted by that cheeseburger fiasco from last weekend. It's that or that unjury chicken broth has too much sodium for me. I am in good spirits though. Every day that I get closer to this surgery, I get a little more excited. I ran out of my liquid B-12. Anyone do the dissolvable dots? I guess B-12 is B-12. Stacy was right about developing new habits. Now, without thinking the first thing I do in the morning is mix my shake, grab my Vitamins, Water and coffee. I have to work on the exercise though. I know it's because of my feet hurting but they don't hurt as much as they did in January!!
  16. @FortKnox Did I read correctly and you said 14 pounds?!?!? What the heck...that some crazy weight loss. You are going to kill this! You are doing amazingly well and it sounds like you've adopted the right mindset too. AWESOME!
  17. Just an opinion here but it sounds to me like you lack self confidence. I think most here would tell you the same story. A story about how they've lost and regained and lost and regained. That is why we're doing this, right? You have to decide that the BS stops now....and grab the reigns. We are at war with own bodies. It helps if you have a supporter...someone to confide in push you when you need it. The fact that you are doing this means you recognize that you need this tool in order to be successful. Just follow the plan and exercise. The weight will come off and you'll be eating in moderation. WE got this!!
  18. Anyone heard from Spicy? I've been hoping she is okay.
  19. Jill I am on my last day of the pre-op diet. I have been averaging between 640 to 800 cals on any given day. I am down a little over 20lbs. MyFirnessPal flips out on me with what my intake is 1200, BUT that is for a normal 2lbs a week type plan.
  20. Me too March 23rd! I just did the shakes today and added some baby spinach in my ninja. It wasn't bad at all.
  21. @Stacy 458 My weight was up 5 pounds after I ate that cheeseburger and fries last Sat. How is that even humanly possible? I was down 1 pound this morning. I basically lost a week's progress. Oh well...not going to dwell...especially since I'm on day 2 of this liquid diet. Hey have you or anyone reading this tried those new Swanson chicken broths that are infused? Like the Mexican Tortilla or Chinese Hot n Sour? I was just wondering...all these protein shakes are so sweet. Something savory would break it up a bit. Anyway...I saw you were starting your pre op. Yay! Good luck...stay positive!!
  22. Day one of my pre-op diet. It wasn't so bad. Were you all looking at your daily calories while you were on the pre-op? I was at almost 700 calories today. That seems high to me..
  23. Oh, okay. I'm not familiar with that kind. It's tasty? Lots of Protein? I love spicy food!
  24. A bit of a rant. I realize that this is "my" battle with food and that I can't expect everyone in my life to not eat in front of me, but for the past two evenings, my husband has brought home fast food and ate it in front of me. I normally make something for him but I didn't the past couple of days. This shit just gets real when you are sitting there with your water and there's the smell of French fries wafting through the air. If I complain, he will tell me that "I chose this", so I don't dare say a word. It just makes me feel like a freak because I can't eat like others do. I survived without raiding the fridge. I just went online and started looking the success stories. I can't wait for the weather to warm up because I am going to start going for walks when this happens again. But really??? French fries?!?! in front of a carb addict!! That's my crack. Okay, *taking a deep breath*...rant over. Boys and girls, we are at war with our own minds. I am not going to let it win. I have just over 3 weeks until my surgery date and I have lost over 30 lbs. in just over a month. I am declaring war on McDonald's french fries!
