    Anyone else having weird cravings?

@Iowa_summergirl- I am craving the same thing! I want to eat those pinwheels(name?) where you smear cream cheese on deli ham and wrap them in a pickle and slice them. Yum! I have been craving odd things like a lot of pickled veggies and mustard sounds oddly good too lol.
  2. @2NewBeginningsxoxo- I can completely relate to your worries. I had my sleeve surgery on 1/14/15 (so not too long ago 21 days ago). The overall surgery went really well, but it was the gas that killed me. It hurt really bad so don't be afraid to let the nurses know that you want a gas pill! They gave me one that dissolved and oddly enough it made me throw up and I felt a ton better. I had a really hard time getting down liquids and spit up a lot after surgery. I ended up having a hiatal hernia so the opening of my esophagus and stomach was much tighter and swollen then normal (so it may be a breeze for you:). I ended up staying in the hospital for 5 days before I could go home. Walking helps a lot, so bring some nice slippers! Some good things to bring to your surgery is slippers, your own pillow, and chap-stick! When I got home, I found I didn't tolerate milk so I had to get liquid Protein (New Whey) and protein that mixed well with Water and juice. I would highly recommend unjury strawberry sorbet (it tastes great with crystal light lemonade and orange). While I still can't eat much of anything, yet I have been finally feeling much better after getting over that horrible hump of the first 2 weeks. Everyone is different and you could have some or none of the problems that come with the surgery. I regretted it at first when I was having a hard time and at times I still do, but it is getting better. The hardest part is your mind more so then your stomach. My mind sees food still and wants to eat but my body has no desire for it. Time and healing helps and I sincerely hope your journey goes great! While I'm not a veteran yet, please feel free to ask my any questions you have about the surgery and hospital stay. Good Luck!

    Sushi?

I'm only 3 weeks out and I'm praying hard that I can tolerate rice still (of course much later down the road lol). I love Asian food and while I'm glad a lot of it is meat and veggies, I love the rice and noodles. I'm planning on going to South Korea sometime in the future and here is hoping I can still eat some kimbap!
  4. Hi fellow WLS buddies! Ok, so far my journey to a new me has been pretty depressing. When I went for my surgery, my Dr. said I had a hiatal hernia that he had to stitch up so I ended up staying in the hospital for 5 days because I couldn't get anything down (even water). I am 9 days out and I can take Water pretty well but I found that I can't do milk products so doing Protein shakes have been super hard. I had to buy liquid Protein so I only get in about 25-30g of protein a day:( This in turn has made me feel super weak and has given me bad headaches. As time goes on, I can keep down more such as my multi-Vitamin and Prilosec. I was super excited for this surgery but now I feel like I made a huge mistake (apparently this is normal, but no one told me lol). I am getting better with time, but does anyone have and uplifting words or maybe some advice? I know I need a lot more protein in my diet, so if anyone knows any good sources of protein that don't deal with milk, I would super appreciate it. I feel like I want to eat because my stomach has been moving a lot and growling, but nothing sounds good to me (not that I would eat yet;). Has anyone gone through the hiatal hernia? I would love to hear from people who are a few months out just so I know there is hope in the future (would love to also hear from fellow newbies too!!) Thanks for time reading my post and I can't wait to meet fellow weight loss surgery peeps! Soubifan700
  5. @applegal79- Thank you for the suggestion! 30g of Protein is great!!! That is so exciting that you are a month out of surgery! Taking baby steps towards food is smart lol. It is odd how much I look at food and think that it looks so good, but thinking about eating it doesn't sound good. I will definitely be looking into your suggestion! Good luck and thank you for your kind words!
  6. @kellsbells- I hope your surgery goes well next week! Congratulations on taking that big step, and it is wonderful to hear that your son is doing so well! Thank you for the Protein ideas! I never realized there were so many products lol!
  7. @hco7416- Congratulations on your surgery! I feel you when it comes to dairy:( Sadly, I have tried lactose free milk and even soy milk. My doctor thinks that I can't even get those down because of the consistency and the tightness of my hernia site makes it harder to get through. I have just purchased some unjury, the strawberry Sorbet that goes in Water or other juices. It has 21g of Protein and I've heard it tastes great with crystal light lemonade or the orange kind. Thank you for the kind words and I hope your recovery is speedy and good!
  8. @HMR- Congrats on your surgery! I agree, the hernia has made drinking and eating a bit more difficult sadly. Thank you for the suggestion for the protein! I will definitely be looking into it! Please keep me updated on your hernia healing, cause any information would be great! Sadly, my doctor really didn't give me too much info on what to really expect with it besides having a bit more difficulty with liquids and foods. Thank you for your post and I hope your journey is wonderful!
  9. @bewell- I will definitely have to try the ISOPURE! I'm surprised I wasn't told about it from my Doctor's. Thank you for the encouragement and I really hope your recovery and journey goes wonderful!
  10. @Veronica Page- Thanks for the kind words! I hope your journey is going good! My Doctor never gave me anything for my hernia so I will definitely look into it:) Thanks!
  11. Nikkidoodlebug Thanks for the Protein advice! Good luck with your future surgery! If you have any questions about the procedure or even the hospital stay, please feel free to ask!

    Any Early Jan Sleevers?

Congrats! I had the sleeve surgery on the 14th and unfortunately I have been doing kinda crappy. It turned out that I had a hiatal hernia, so at the end of my esophagus has been even tighter. This has meant that I have had a hard time getting anything down. And I definitely agree, the gas was the worst part (I really underestimated how much it could actually hurt, OUCH)!!! I can finally get liquids down now and things are slowly getting better. Does anyone have cravings for food?? Cause I will see a food commercial or smell something and I really want to eat it, yet at the same time I don't want to (if that makes any sense lol?). I'm still having a crappy time with gas being in my back but I will be trying those Gas X strips asap! Since some people are further along in their recovery (I'm only 9 days) does anyone have any uplifting news that it gets better further along the recovery road?
