    Protein Shots

No sugar, no calories. And I would much rather drink Water than those nasty-ass Protein shakes. I've had so many I never want to see them again. I haven't had any trouble with fluids at all, fortunately. I've always been a serious water drinker. It was just those awful shakes. I've tried so many... and couldn't find one that didn't make me want to hurl! PS - I LOVE your signature!!

    Protein Shots

I have found a nifty source of protein! They're called Protein Shots by Probalance. Each of them have 28g of protein in a 3oz fruity drink. Does it taste great - NO! But 3oz? that's like 4 swallows and you've got half a day of protein. I checked with my nutritionist and she tells me it's fine as long as I'm getting protein from food, too. It's just a great boost to be able to get so much in one place without filling up my tiny stomach. I got mine at CVS.
  3. I'm so glad to hear about the 3 week stall here. I was 3 weeks on Monday (surgery January 12). I've lost 30 lbs, but then just stopped. No gain, just a halt. Hopeful that it picks up again. Feeling kind of blue about it, and just the whole overwhelming emotion of surgery and recovery, too.

    NSV shout outs

Only 3 weeks post surgery here, but my bathrobe actually wraps around me now. None of that big triangle of gap in the front any more! The cheekbones that got me compliments back in college? They're still there! Who knew! I had to move my car seat up a bit. The belly doesn't need as much accommodating as it used to! Only down about 30 now and a long way to go... but so many changes happening!!!
  5. I'm only 3 weeks post op... but I've found the recovery to be really easy. The first few days were hard, of course. The pain from the surgery as well as a kidney infection I picked up along the way. But I went back to work (I work from home) 1 week post op and haven't looked back. I've lost 30 lbs in 3 weeks, and the energy level is amazing! My body already feels very different, and I'm feeling so optimistic about everything. I didn't have a scale at first, but realized at one point when I got up and put on my bathrobe it was HUGE on me. My 12 year old said "mom, my arms go around you further!". The hard part is planning your meals. You do not feel like eating for the most part. Getting your Protein in as well as fluids is hard - but I've found that just planning ahead makes it work. I'm never hungry (I never ever thought I would say that!), so having a set plan for the day is key to making sure everything gets in. The day I went home from the hospital I said "why did I do this???" 1 week later I said "why didn't I do this 10 years ago?!" It's the best decision I have ever made.

    January Sleevers ❄️

Me! Me! I'm a January Sleever! January 12 surgery, home on the 14th. Rough go of it at first, I had a kidney infection. Once that was squared away, I feel like a million bucks! I really haven't struggled with cravings or any stomach issues. I've been sticking mostly to Protein "shakes" and broth (and lots and lots of water). So far so good. The only real complaint I have is the pill crushing thing. Ugh! It's so gross!
  7. My surgeon was Dr. Benjamin Schneider at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He is amazing. Kind, great listener, better explainer (is that a word?), does hundreds of procedures a year. Oh, and he teaches them at Harvard Medical School. Gets no better. Love him to BITS!

    Finally did it

Wow! I'm really looking forward to doing that. I've sorted all of my clothes by size and plan to donate the ones I can't wear any more! YOU GO!!!!

    Who Are You?

Brand newbie here! Had VSG on 1/12/15 and already feel a million times better! I'm Melanie, I live in Plymouth, MA (thing pilgrims and turkeys). I'm married to St. Jeff (26 years) and have two amazing children - T is 18 (freshman in college, how the heck did that happen?) and P is 12. I work as an event/meeting planner and have had the good fortune to travel all of the world with the job. Travel is my passion! I began this journey on my 50th birthday. Wish I had done it 10 years ago!
