  1. Thanks everyone! I am defintely trying to deal with my "head hunger" now, because i know that, single handedly that will be the hardest part for me, personally. Edavidson - I am sorry to hear you are having so much trouble! I am sure that it is all up from here. You made the right choice for you and it will pay off!
  2. It feels like it is going to take forever for my surgery! I had my first Nutrition appt and i have 3 months to go! I am hoping to get sleeved end of April/beginning of May. Good luck!!! xo
  3. Thanks so much ladies! I love the idea of meditation and positive affirmations. I know that this is just a fear and i will get over it and I will be soo much happier. Right now i am in the pre approval stage. I have Cigna and i have to do a 3 month supervised diet with a nutritionist. Sleeve,Thank you, and i am so sorry you are having such a hard time! I am currently in therapy, it was my therapist that suggested the surgery. I have been in therapy for years and come a long way, but i am just so scared that i will not be able to eat giant amounts of food like i am now. it feels good to just get that out there, and talk about it, because this is a HUGE life change. And it isn't easy! - i haven't really started yet and I don't think it is easy! lol
  4. Ok, I am going to be really honest here, and l am petrified to give up food! food has been my friend, my enemy, my boyfriend, my lover my everything... in times when i didn't have all of the other things, or i wasn't getting my needs met! I am on my journey and I am ready to have a new life I know i don't want to be this weight for my health, but in the years I have dieted and lost a ton of weight, I have come to the conclusion that i am afraid of failing, and i am also afraid of SUCCEEDING! I have had my appt with my surgeon, and nutritionist, I know that i want to do this. I am sure that this is the right decision, but is there anyone out there that is dealing with the FEAR?!?!?!?
  5. Hello, I have a question, how much did you all lose during Preop? just wondering... i am asked to lose 10lbs.. but i wonder if it is a bad thing to lose more? This may be a silly question. Also what did you all do to prepare for the surgery? is there anything you wished you did but didn't? Thank you!
  6. mine is probably going to take about 4 months as well, i have my first appt with the nutritionist tomorrow, then i have to check in with her for the next 3 months (31 days apart) i have to lose 10 lbs... write a letter stating all of my attempts at weight loss for the last 5 years. Get a letter of recommendation from my primary care, along with weight records for the past 5 years. A bunch of blood tests, EKG, and some pulmonary thing..lol. Psychiatric clearance, attend 2 support group meetings, and a partridge in a pear tree. lol. It is a lot of work ahead of me, but i want to be prepared, this is a huge life change and i want to be sure that i take all of the steps and do it the right way. I NEVER EVER EVER want to be here again.. so if it takes 4 or 5 or 6 months, i will do it.
  7. My first appointment went well! I have 3 months with a dietician ... And a bunch of other tests and stuff! Feel free to friend me .. Looks like we may be on the same timeline : ) I decided on doing the sleeve.. It seems like the better choice for me.
  8. Thank you Sweetie! are you glad you had the surgery?
  9. Today i have my very first appt with my Surgeon! YIkes.. i am scared he is going to tell me that i have a ton of work to do before getting approved by insurance.. I also am afraid i will forget my questions! hahaha! any suggestions?? Or is there anyone that is at the first step of their journey too?
  10. Luvin Life, how do you like the surgery so far?
  11. Thank you guys!!! I went through this medi weight loss thing for 3 months that is run by Registered Nurses and Physicians... basically they give you a strict diet along with Vitamins, you go in every week and get weighed. i wasn't sure if that would qualify, i guess i will ask my doc that question. thank you for all of the responses and support! I am really looking forward to this! Jordan, i did add you as a friend, thanks ; )
  12. Also, are you glad you had the surgery? did you have any regrets?
  13. Thank you! Had you attempted anything that was "on paper" before? i am wondering because i have done Weight Watchers numerous times, and i did Medi Weightloss for 3 months this year... Sorry for all the questions, i just want to do this sooner rather than later : )
  14. Hi, I am going for my first appt to the surgeon, and i was just wondering if anyone else had cigna insurance and how easy or hard it was to prove that you had tried (the 3 months within 2 years) any advice is appreciated!
  15. Thank you! Apparently, i am more concerned about what insurance will need rather than my surgeon. Thank you for your replies, This is all greek to me, so i appreciate the help!
  16. Hello All! I was wondering if you guys would be able to help me? I have my very first appointment with my surgeon on Friday, and i was wondering what i should bring with me? I want to go through insurance (i have cigna) i have already called to see if they cover it through my employer and they do, and they cover the Surgeon that I want to see. I want to be sure that i am organized and this approval process goes as smoothly as possible (at least from my end) - i have all of my bank statements with gym membership fees, weight watchers payments, and Medi weight loss payments But that is about it! can you all think of other things i should bring?
  17. Thank you so much guys! I am very excited for my appointment on the 19th and will definitely keep everyone posted. I am worried about my insurance approval right now... hopefully i have enough documentation to prove that i have tried.. AND I HAVE TRIED! I have tried just about everything!!! I currently have 2 gym memberships WW membership and i am still enrolled with Medi weight loss. I have spent sooo much money on losing weight in the past decade, it is MIND BLOWING!!! Thank you all for responding to my post... I definitely need the positive feedback from everyone that has been through this!
  18. Thank you Sleeve, I do need to hear these things. I do know that it will not be easy, but I totally need to hear it from people living through it. I have gone through all of these emotions since my Therapist suggested the surgery to me, i have researched and researched and researched... it scares me to death that i won't be able to eat this way again, but it scares me to death that i can. I always think to myself what if this doesn't work? what if i am one of those people that still Snacks all the time, or something. I need this to be a lifestyle change. I am fearful of all of the old emotions that are going to come up and i will actually have to deal with rather than numb with food. Then i think about the other side of the coin and how much i want to have a real life. I am so miserable and lonely now... I really hope that it is better than this! did you have a hard time with getting approved by insurance?
  19. Thank you for the support! Yes our relationship with food is a tricky one! This is pretty much my last ditch effort to really lose this weight and have a real life. I really want to live, OUT LOUD! I know it sounds silly, but i feel so trapped in this body, and in my mind with my limitations... I think i just don't know who i will be if i am not fat and addicted to food... you know?
  20. So i have recently been thinking about getting the gastric sleeve. My therapist is actually the one that recommended it to me. Just a little background, I am 5'4" currently 278 lbs ( i have recently gained a lot of weight after a breakup) I have hypothyroidism, and depression... currently on meds for both. I have an appt with the surgeon on Dec 19th, and there is a seminar on 12/9 that the receptionist said i should attend. I have Cigna insurance, i called and they do cover the surgery. I have been on and off WW for 4 years, in 2010 i lost 40lbs i cancelled for about a year, and then rejoined in August, but haven't been consistent with going to meetings or weighing in. I also did Medi Weight-Loss this year i signed up for 3 months, and went regularly for 2. I have all of the paperwork... and all of my bank statements. I have a question about the insurance would that be enough to show that i have tried? I have also done the skinny rules (bob harper's book) atkins, south beach, starvation, and every other diet known to man. My will power is great... but i can't seem to get below 215lbs. I am an emotional eater, i have been working on this for a long time... there is a lot of fear with giving up food, and there is a lot of guilt and shame around it. Anyway, i was wondering what you all did for your insurance requirements and how you deal with the emotional eating, before and after surgery? Thank you!
