  1. @@SuzeMuze Thanks for sharing this schedule. My mind has been swirling lately with how to schedule vitamins and the no drinking with meals and 30 min before or after meals thing. Granted, I'm just starting the 6 month physician supervised diet so surgery is far away (feels like) and I've got time to get it all sorted out. I have my first meeting with the surgeon in 2 weeks; I still have much to learn. Thanks again, your info is very helpful!
  2. I opted for Dr. Miles because I wanted the earliest available appointment and it was him. My appointment is Monday, December 22nd. From what all I've read, they both seem very impressive. I have a running list of questions to ask. I'm curious what their requirements are for the preOp diet. I still have 6 months of insurance-required weight loss attempt, so it will be a while before I'm to the point of actually doing the preOp diet, but inquiring minds want to know lol. I also would like to know what/if Vitamins they require postOp. Also, if they send me home with blood thinner injections. These are just a few of my questions. Like I said, inquiring minds want to know lol.
  3. I have my very first appointment in a couple weeks and was hoping to get some feedback from others that used Dr. Miles/Alabama Weight Loss Surgery. I've read nothing but good things, but would like to hear from someone with first hand experience. Any info will be much appreciated.
  4. I'm not sure when it's appropriate to use ice vs heat, but after I had back surgery a couple years ago an ice pack helped so much!!
  5. Best wishes to you both! Good luck today!
  6. Good luck, Karen! Best wishes for a speedy, easy recovery!
  7. I'm in the same boat, other than I do have comorbidities in addition to a BMI of 40. I have to do a 6 month physician-supervised weight loss attempt...and part of me is afraid to lose too much. I guess if that was a realistic fear for me to have I wouldn't be to the point of needing surgery. I meet with my surgeon for the first time in 3 weeks and I'm sure I'll learn more then, but in the mean time I'm about to drive myself crazy with all the reading and research to learn more lol. I wish you all the best! Hopefully someone here can give us some guidance to ease our minds.
  8. You're 3 months in, so you're half way there! You've made it this far...I hope the next 3 months just breeze by. Me? Well, I have my first appointment to begin my 6 month physician-supervised weight loss program on 12/22. Yuck, it all seems so far away ????
  9. I'm sorry you've had a rough go of it. Hang in there...I bet the worst part is already behind you.
  10. I am just starting this process and this forum has been so helpful! I have an initial consult with the surgeon next month and I know that I have a 6 month physician-supervised diet required by my insurance. On the one hand, I think hey, that's not too long...but then I read more and I'm suddenly impatient at the notion of those 6 months and want it to be done tomorrow lol. I don't know anyone personally who has had wls. My husband is so supportive, but I won't be telling the rest of the family any time soon (if at all). I look forward to making some connections with people here to share the journey with.????
