  1. Thanks. Me too. They do the surgery in Mexico for about $5000 but I'm not brave enough to do it.
  2. No, I don't have to do a 3 or 6 month diet. You will get a bariatric navigator that will schedule most of your appointments (if you use the Bailey Doctors). They will try to group your appointments together but since you live there, you might be better off just taking the first available appointments. It's going to cost $17,000 and that does not include the pre testing. It includes one night in the hospital, the surgeon and the Anesthesia.
  3. I don't have a date yet and I'm self pay (ouch). I think I have to pay off the surgery before they will schedule it. I'm hoping to do it in February or March. I have to go back to the dietician because I haven't passed that part yet and I'm pretty sure I won't pass the next one either. You have to be able to eat meals without drinking 30 mins before, 30 mins after or during the meal. It's kicking my butt lol
  4. Your welcome. Come to find out after my sleep study that I have sleep apnea and had to get a cpap machine. Yuck. I'm not real thrilled with it and my body is taking awhile to get use to it. I am very pleased with Bailey. They put you under when they do the EGD and I was very pleased with everyone in the surgery area.
  5. I was just thinking about you so I thought I would stop by and say hi. How are things going? Any news yet?
  6. @Shenara- Hey sounds good. All I have left is the support group and another dietician meeting but I don't have a surgery date yet. They have 2 surgeons that do the surgery- Dr. Varnell and Dr. Katsis (I think that's how you spell it). I recommend doing all your other specialist visits ASAP. I have been slowly doing mine since June 2014. I have been so scared that I'm just taking my time. I have had to do a lot of testing: sleep study, EGD, EKG, stress test, pulmonary function test, psychological testing and blood work. From talking to the nurses at the other doctors appointments, they say they are getting super busy with bariatric patients so if your wanting to do it by May, talk to your bariatric navigator and get those appointments ASAP. Dr. Kirk is a very nice guy. At first, I wasn't so sure about him but he is a good listener and loves to talk- about everything lol. I think he truly cares. I have talked to the other staff at Bailey and they speak very highly of him (and they aren't impressed with some of the other doctors you will have to see). Good luck!
  7. We were all so worried about you. I'm confused, so your bowels aren't working right? Have they figured anything out yet?
  8. I was planning to do mine next month but I unexpectedly had to have gallbladder surgery. I had it done on the 24th and I'm still hurting pretty good. Dr Varnell was going to do that surgery but he took Christmas week off so he passed me off to another doc in his office. I really wanted Varnell to do it, oh well. But if my gallbladder surgery has hurt this much it makes me very leery to do the sleeve. I have quit taking my vitamins and quit doing the protein shakes when I was doing 2 a day. I have basically stopped doing everything the dietician told me I needed to be doing. I'm afraid I've scared myself out of doing the sleeve. All I have left to do is 1 more dietician and the support group. I got my cpap machine yesterday. I am scared and mad at myself at the same time. I plan to go to the next Owasso meeting, and hopefully meet some people that will help whip me back in shape :-). Thanks for listening everyone.
  9. I would rather have all this testing done before hand and have my surgeon know what he's getting into. I feel just flying down to Mexico the surgeon wouldn't have any background info and it would be more dangerous. Besides, I like Dr . Varnell and the staff in the OR spoke very highly of him. :-)
  10. That's great. Did you have to do the two week pre surgery diet of sugar free carnation instant breakfast, sugar free Popsicles and sugar free jello? Yuck, this is going to be horrible.
  11. This is what I'm terrified of. I'm self pay and afraid something will go wrong. They don't know what is wrong but they are sending you home anyways? That's scary. I hope they get it figured out soon. I am so sorry that this is happening to you.
  12. LOL I plan on doing the surgery, I was unsure of going to Mexico and when I ran it past a few friends, they were all against it, so I decided to do it here. Mexico just isn't right for me. I've also read up and most doctors don't want to deal with another surgeons surgery especially in Bariatrics. Do you have any regrets or issues with your surgery?
  13. I've thought about going to Mexico but just can't bring myself to go there even though it's about $10,000 cheaper. My friends forbid me going there lol. I want the doctors to be close by just in case something goes wrong after the surgery.
  14. Lol I know. I just need a slap to the head.
  15. Good job! Im proud of you. Yeah, they were polyps. I've just been nauseous since Tuesday morning and it hurts to breath. I'm just getting anxious I guess.
  16. Ok thanks. I just need to deal with it lol. But it has scared me. If I hurt this much now, then how hard is the actual surgery going to be?!? I'm starting to get cold feet.
  17. Did any of you ladies have to have biopsies when they did the gastric scope? They did 3 biopsies on me yesterday and my insides are still on fire and it burns to breath. Is that normal or am I just being a big baby?
  18. I think we all need to head up there and kick some surgeons ass!
  19. If you're talking to me, I live in OK.
  20. Probably February for me too. I go in for my EKG, stress test, pulmonary function test and my final nutrition class on Monday and Tuesday I do the gastric scope.
  21. Yeah, I would want it done too. Is the surgeon at least going to come see you today? I would ask him to go ahead and do it now.
