  1. Hi guys! I had a recent blood clot and I am now on the blood thinners xarelto. I know I will have to stop the thinners before surgery. I am just wondering if anyone has had the surgery that was taking blood thinners and what their experience was like?? I also know once you've had clots in the past you are more susceptible to getting them again (this is my second time getting one) especially after surgery. I'm just very concerned. Thank you!! :-)
  2. Hi guys! Just found out not too long ago my surgery date is December 23rd!! Merry Christmas to me! I am like a lot of you on here... So excited, yet so nervous. I am feeling a lot of different emotions, trying to get a handle on them all!
  3. Congratulations on your surgery!!! Thank you SO SO much for you tips! I have my preop class on Dec 8th. My BMI is close to 60 so I will definitely be on the 2 week liquid diet. I've heard it is really hard, but I also know how crucial it is to follow it to a T for the surgery. I want to make sure it goes as smoothly as possible. And like you said it will help me feel more prepared for what's to come. I have to bring my vitamins and protein powder etc with me to my preop class to make sure I have everything correct, which is good. I'm nervous about making sure I get everything I need. I am 27 years old and right now, my mom and sister are living with me. I am working full time, but my mom is not working and sis is only working part time. No kids. But they do support me and I have a lot of family and friends who support me as well. As for my mom and sis its going to be a a major change too, with just the lifestyle we're used too. I have to make this change for myself, I want to get healthy and finally start living! I hope they want to join the journey with me, but at the same time if they don't, I can't let it effect me any. I'm doing this for me :-) Thanks for the Gas meds tip! I will definitely make sure to bring something for that!! Sounds painful!
  4. wow! That's coming up soon!! I wish you the best! It is so exciting but also very nerve racking. So many emotions about it really.
  5. Hi everyone! My surgery date in on December 23rd, which gives me enough time to prepare myself mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Well, the best I can anyways ☺. I am just wondering if anyone who has had or is having surgery wouldn't mind leaving some tips for me on what they did to prepare. Or what they would've done to help things go better. These forums really help me a lot. I am so grateful to the people on here. I had a blood clot in my leg that traveled to my lung a year and a half ago and I had another blood blot in my lung a little over a month ago. So, I am very concerned about the surgery and making sure not to get anymore blood clots after surgery. I am on blood thinners now to help prevent future ones. I just want to make sure I do everything I can possible to make this all go as smoothly as possible. God has blessed me with this opportunity and had given me time to prepare and I don't want to waste it. ☺
  6. I am having the Gastric Bypass. Just got my surgery date yesterday! December 23rd! What a Christmas gift! I'm so excited, yet so nervous! I had a blood blot in my lung a little over a month ago and am now on blood thinners most likely for the rest of my life. I also had a blood clot in my leg last year that traveled to my lung. So, just nervous with the history of blood clots and surgery. I am so so excited though! I am so ready to get healthy! God has blessed me and gotten me through so much, I know he will this surgery as well! Its all in God's hands! I look forward to hearing from others who are having surgery in December too!
  7. Just got my date yesterday! December 23rd!! What a Christmas Gift! I'm so excited, yet so nervous!
