  1. My appointment with Dr. Schmitt is tomorrow! Can't wait!
  2. Finally, after having to reschedule, my first appointment is almost here! It's a 2hr. drive but I'm so excited to take this first leap of faith! I've come up with a couple questions to ask but I'm hoping you can give me some more suggestions. Was there anything you wish you had asked on your consultation visit? Thanks!
  3. It's stories like this that make me want to eagerly move forward with this new life! Congratulations on all your victories and thank you for sharing!
  4. I was curious about the pre op diet too. The lady I talked to on here said depending on your weight Dr. Schmitt usually does 1-2 weeks.
  5. I too have my first appointment in a few weeks at AL Weight Loss Surgery although I chose Dr. Schmitt. No particular reason, just liked something about him. I only know what I've read about either of them and it all sounds good. I did find someone on here who is a patient of Dr. Schmitt and she has answered many of my questions. Hopefully you'll be able to find others who see Dr. Miles.
  6. This thread is exactly what I needed! My BMI is 34 and I will be self pay. I am in the early stages of this and currently do not yet have a surgery date. Because of my lower BMI, I initially felt some guilt for even considering wls. I'm so glad to hear there are others that share my story. Thank you!
  7. I am early in this process but can already see that a good blender will be my best friend. So I'm turning to all you experienced folks and ask: Is there a certain blender that you recommend? Thanks for your help!
  8. I have a mini crockpot that I use several times a week at work. This little thing is amazing and everyone that has seen it has bought one of their own! It plugs into an outlet and will have your food piping hot within an hour. It holds 20 oz. I'm hoping to get as much use from it post surgery as I am now. Go check it out! http://www.crock-pot.com/specialty/for-lunch
  9. I've been told my Dr. will give me 4 weeks off, but I have a coworker friend that just had the sleeve and her Dr. gave her 6 weeks. Different Docs, different rules.
  10. I found my Dr. after browsing the internet. He is in Birmingham, AL and he charges $11,900. for the sleeve. Here is his link: http://www.alabamawls.com/patient-cash-pay.php
  11. I'll be doing the self-pay and in doing so my surgery will be outpatient which means in and out all in 1 day. I have mixed emotions about this.
