  1. Thanks friends I didn't call surgical team - this came up last minute, right before I posted here. I'm too nervous to eat a salad, haven't done that yet (though love salads and can't wait to start eating them again!) ... I wanted to do Protein but was thinking the fat wouldn't be good. Oatmeal sounds perfect though! I just looked at the menu and they have sandwiches too - I might opt for a turkey or chicken salad sandwich, and just eat around the roll... Yummy protein in that right? We'll see what I'm hungry for, when I get there. Thanks again!!
  2. One month out from RNY, have the all clear to eat regular foods. We are heading, as a team, to a diner for Breakfast tomorrow. I don't eat eggs. What can I get? English muffin w/butter? Can I have a slice of bacon? A sausage link? A pancake w/out syrup? Hash browns? A blueberry muffin (the namesake of the diner - it's what they're known for )So confused. My tastebuds are changing and my family is pushing me to try egg... The mere thought makes me want to gag, but maybe I'll snag a bite of someone's tomorrow and give it a whirl. TIA for and advice
  3. It gets better after day 3. Hang in there!!!
  4. You can do it!! Just live off 5 protein shakes a day. You can absolutely do it and it will be so worth it!
  5. Rocky - I was given one at my pre-op appointment.
  6. I'm very disappointed in your doctors. My center stressed, at each and every informational meeting, that if you have even mild regular heartburn bypass is the best route to take. They should have you taking omeprazole (maybe not til your 3 week check up) - that may help. It's taken for six months to prevent ulcers. If it helps, stay on it. That's what I was on pre-RNY for my reflux. Hopefully you're on the mend soon
  7. Thanks! I wonder if I can do the same with the urisidol! I'll call cvs later
  8. I'm having the damnedest time getting the pills down!!! Does Citri-cal come in a chewey? My omeprazole and Urisidol are getting stuck too. Any tips??
  9. Pre-op, my only "fat problem" was GERD. Bypass is the only compatible surgery. Higher weight loss with the bypass too. Go big or go home right? I was diabetic when pregnant, and my mom has type two diabetes - that's in my future if i don't drop some serious poundage. GB for the win. Good luck with whatever decision you make
  10. I wore hospital gowns the whole time, so only brought a few pairs of undies, a travel body wash and shampoo, toothbrush/paste, comb, Chapstick, phone & charger & extension cord, laptop, hand lotion and fuzzy socks and slippers for walks. I used it all except the laptop - the pain meds made me too loopy to care - I just let the little TV on I wish I brought some oil for inside my nostrils (like a dab of olive oil or Vitamin e or coconut oil) it was dreadfully dry in there. And maybe my neti pot to flush out my nose. BEWARE - nobody warned me, but the oxygen mask dries you out a LOT. (Tmi/gross) I had the nastiest phlegm, mucus and crusted boogers in my nose and throat. Don't be scared - ask your nurse if you cough/hawk anything gross up. I was beyond mortified what came up when I coughed. I wish I had known ahead of time! My one piece of advice - the day after surgery take a hot shower. Even if you don't bring any soaps or shampoos, use the hospital's or just take a shower to get wet - you will feel like a new person!! Good luck!
  11. That all sounds amazing!!! Enjoy every second!!! I'm looking forward to this summer with my kids in the pool! I have plenty of fat bathing suits, but just am not comfortable in them AND I had such low energy that I dreaded going into the pool! (Gotta clean it before we can really play and it's just an all around pain when you don't have energy) I bought a size 18 black one piece at target on clearance at the end of this past summer, I have hopes it will fit!! Enjoy your trip - and post pictures when you get back!
  12. Thanks!! I'm pretty sure it's not lac-intol, I've been tolerating my protein shakes made w/ skim milk just fine. Nothing specific giving me the diarrhea.
  13. Hey all! Im two weeks out from RNY today, and I've had diarrhea off and on since last night. Is this normal? Still eating mushy phase 2. Also is it normal for my pouch to be sensitive when I take even a sip of warm Water? I don't get a pain, but more like an uncomfortable sensation for a few seconds. Thanks in advance, I don't know where I'd be without this place!! ~RNY 1.19.15
  14. Thanks. Woke up feeling fine. Never again. I'm sticking with applesauces and protein drinks.
  15. How long should i expect this to last? It's been 8 hours.
  16. And now I've got the sweats and my back is sore. This effing sucks!!!!!
  17. Sigh. I've been standing and walking as well.
  18. Dammit. I called the surgeon office to talk to a nurse about the tums - got my surgeon he's doing on call - he said no because they aren't sugar free they will make things worse. However I just felt the need to vomit, went in and had a good 6 heaves but nothing came out. I feel a little better. It's now been 5 hours since I ate. :/ Please tell me this gets easier.
  19. Talked to my surgeon - called to talk to on call nurse but since within two weeks of surgery they put me thru to on call surgeon... And it is him lol. Anyway. No to tums, because of the sugar. He said just have to wait it out. I want to vomit so badly. Wonder what would happen if I did.
  20. /I only ate about half of the half cup :/ never again!!!/
  21. Ok. Do you think I can take tums? Will it even help? I wouldnmakeyself throw up but that seems like it may wreck my pouch/incisions.
