    Anyone else 5'0" and 205?

I'm 5 feet and 1/2 inch. I started at 216, I'm now 198. I had lapband with plication August 21st, 2014. I have not had any fills yet (my band is @ zero). I have changed what I eat, but not as much as I will if I decide to get my band adjusted. I'm taking it slow because like you said, we are not "as big" as some others, and I'm also not that concerned about getting down to 120... My dad died from being morbidly obese, weighing almost 500 lbs at 65, and I had the surgery to prevent me from getting anywhere close to 250 or 300, which both my aunt and my grandmother are.

    Scared!

You might check into plication, they just fold a part of your stomach over and it is reversible. I had it done this August with my lapband. Some people have had it done as a revision of their lapband procedure.

    gastric bypass vs. sleeve

LapBand with plication is a newer combined procedure, had mine this past August and I highly recommend it!

    Can't decided

Have you heard about lapband with plication? That's what I had and it's awesome! Aka "Iband"...
  5. You might look into lapBand with pLication or "I band" as some places call it. It's one of the safest and most effective surgery options. I had it done in late August of 2014. You have to take care of yourself.
  6. That is horrible and dangerous! Ask about the suppositories, I forgot the name, but they are the same as the ones they give for morning sickness... I'll pray you don't hurt anything and can stop throwing up.????
  7. That's a great story! Thanks for posting it! My dad was about the same weight as you when he died at age 65, the fat in his stomach was crushing his organs, which resulted in not get enough oxygen. He died in about one week from the day he went into the hospital. I told myself that I would try to get weight loss surgery asap, that was about 8 years ago and I finally had gastric pLication with the laPband 8-21-14! I was not near as big as my dad, but I'm also only 5 feet tall! I have had no fills (my band is at zero) but with the plication alone I've lost about 16 lbs and I'm learning how to eat better and feeling better, too.
  8. Oh no, this sounds horrible! Maybe you can call the on call dr (if your place has more than one surgeon)?... I threw up for the first 3 days and it was horrible, after that I got these suppositories for nausea and they worked wonders (but made me a little sleepy) Are you taking anything for it?
  9. So when I wake up in the morning and sometimes at night, my stomach hurts, almost like there's a hole in my stomach, could be hunger pains.. A little coca cola or some goldfish seem to help. Anybody know what that feeling is?
  10. Ahh! I'm so glad to hear of someone else with this experience! That makes perfect sense and I had an idea it was the plication because my band is at zero and I haven't even had my first fill! The dr suggested drinking coke that's a little more flat.
  11. Guess nobody has felt this feeling of a hole in their stomach, the acid response could be right. It also could be hunger pains, that would be an experience I never felt before surgery! Lol
  12. You have shown amazing self control and it's awesome that you are considering doing it without surgery. My best to you, whatever you decide! Surgery is a big deal and not for everybody. I chose surgery because I had seen my dad lose over 100 lbs one year and gain 150 lbs the next, several times in his life. I was "holding steady" around 200 lbs for over 10 years, but I knew that 300 lb girl was creeping up! Lol My dad died at age 65 weighing around 500 lbs. On the other hand, my dad's brother weighed over 500 lbs around the age of 30 and began weight watchers and exercise and lost over 300 lbs without surgery AND has kept it off over 20 years!

    Scale

I had lapband with plication August 14th and am slightly annoyed with one of my friends. She's asked me how much weight I've lost every single time I've talked to her and it bothers me! I didn't have this surgery to start tracking my weight loss every day! I had the surgery because my own dad died from being morbidly obese at 65 and I finally had the BMI and the insurance to cover it. I guess I should be more concerned with how much weight I need to lose, so many people on here are talking about being stuck at weight loa and I'm just not getting it! I am about 210 lbs and 5 feet tall.. Does anybody else feel the way I do? I don't really care about loosing lbs, I just want to live longer and not be so freaking tired and sore from carrying too much weight! Lol
  14. I had the surgery on Thursday afternoon and felt absolutely awful until this afternoon. I couldn't stop vomiting the first day, even though I hadn't drank anything but sips of water and 1/2 Popsicle and 3 or 4 tiny bites of jello. My dr called in a prescription for nausea and so I'm doing much better. I still have to take it a little sooner than 6 hours apart because I feel myself wanting to throw up in about 4-5 hours after I use one. The surgeon also discovered a hiatal hernia so they repaired that. As soon as I woke up from surgery, I regretted the decision to have it and until today I still kind of did. But now, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it's going to be just fine! Plication is relatively new, just in case you don't know about it. It can be done with or without the lapband, but the success rate so far with this surgery is really high. They take your stomach and told it over itself and stitch it up. In case of an emergency, the stitches can be removed, I didn't lose any of my stomach, and of course the band is removable. Some call procedure sleeve with no staples.

    Lapband with plication

Hi Tonya! Glad to hear you are doing so well. I will see my doctor on Sept 10th and find out if I get a fill or not. I haven't really lost much weight, but I feel lighter and am learning to eat healthier and smaller portions because when I don't, it hurts! Lol chat more later, or send me a pm. Are you in Texas?

    Getting Stuck

This is probably why I was so miserable after eating carbs! Please continue to not eat bread or tortillas, trust me! Lol What killed me was some steak fries with ketchup, it sounded so good and I felt like I was done for. Couldn't move, didn't move... After eating like 4 or 5! Lol After that day, I've been way more careful. I will continue to avoid carbs! My problem I think is that I went through a place who did all my pre-testing and they contract with a doc. I never even met the doc, until the day of surgery and didn't ask any questions... I did have my paperwork which said soft foods and protein shakes and yogurt and jello, but I was so sick of it after eating that before and after, I decided to try a few things that were kinda soft and just went crazy.
  17. The first 2-3 days were the worst for me. Be sure you have your pain medicine and your anti-nauseous medicine ready to go. You'll be fine! You can take a few days of just about anything. lol it will be worth it.

    Shakes

I drink Premier protein chocolate shakes, cold. They are not too bad, but they are expensive.

    Getting Stuck

Did you get the anti-nauseous prescription? I was miserable until after about 24 hours of that! I used suppositories that worked great and then I felt so much better. I'm sorry that you are going through this, I know it's horrible! Praying for you!

    Lapband with plication

No, my user name is planningband07 because that's when I started planning to have lapband surgery! Lol it took me 7 years to finally have the insurance and the BMI just right to get it. But, I do think Plication could be an added procedure. From what I've read it is actually an old type of weight loss surgery, they just started combining it with the band for more success. It simply means they fold your stomach into itself and place some stitches to hold it in place. Some call it the sleeve without cutting because the end result is that your stomach is the size of the sleeve, but they do not use staples or have to re-route anything.

    Getting Stuck

It says I am suppose to eat soft foods. Mostly I just eat small portions of whatever I want. I go back to the Dr Sept 10th, I'll try to be more careful I sure don't want to mess anything up. I had lapband with plication.

    Getting Stuck

I know I am not suppose to know this yet, but I had surgery just over a week ago and I had a few days of hell, a few days of Popsicles and now I can literally eat anything. But, what I have found is that CARBS literally are the Anti-Christ! Lol if I eat bread, fries, pasta, etc. I literally have to stop eating and lie down very still. After this happening now 3 days in a row, I will not willingly eat carbs anymore, unless they are in tiny, tiny quantities!

    Scared of saggy skin

From what I've read, the more drastic the surgery, the faster the weight loss = saggier the skin. lapband has the slowest loss, followed by sleeve, followed by gastric bypass. I had the lapband with plication, which is a newish procedure coupled with the band, some call it the sleeve without cutting. Also, the total amount of weight loss will obviously determine how much saggy skin you have. Guaranteed to have some saggy skin with dramatic weight loss, more so the older you are.

    Lapband with plication

Wow! You Poor thing! Take care of yourself... I have been eating way too much today, and had to use a suppository earlier. I think I'm emotionally eating from boredom, I am feeling like a loser
