  1. I was advised only 3 meals a day and to drink protein in between. I got wrapped 1/7 in Mexico. I've lost my desire for taste but am slowly finding stuff I can eat. Had teriyaki chicken and chow mien from Panda and a cheeseburger, no bun with grilled onions w/ mayo. The mayo was amazing! I can only fit 4 bites. I have 4 to 1 ratio meat to carb.
  2. @mcduffield You can get the strips from any pharmacy store like CVS, Wal-Mart, Smith's. They're a little pricey at $20 but last awhile. They're highly effective at scar reduction. Dermarolling uses a roller of tiny needles to superficially penetrate the skin. Not deep enough to bleed but will create micro punctures to allow for skin repair mechanisms (increased collagen, elastin, keratin production) to heal the area. Vanishes surface scarring like stretch marks, acne scars, age spots, cuts, etc. Will clear anything the strips can't fix.
  3. I've never heard of chicory being less acidic. Just makes for cheaper coffee as I recall from my New Orleans days. Are you from down south? Is that why you drink it?
  4. For scars including stretch marks, the silicone strips work magic. I'm also planning on dermarolling them away when they are ready.
  5. I'm on soft foods now. I only weigh myself once a week so I'm in the dark during the week. Was at 20 lbs lost post op on Sat. Caught a cold and the coughing led to puking so I've been desperate not to cough. Had some Subway chicken noodle soup. They have it to me for free cause it was bottom of the bin. Good thing cause I could only take 4 bites before I didn't want anymore. Chewed gum for my 30 min after so I didn't drink. Extra digestive juices should be a good thing. I've got zero appetite and no desire for taste. Hopefully it's just the cold.
  6. I was on a TOM stall then dropped 5 lbs in 4 days once school started. I get my steps just walking to and fro on campus.
  7. And take your bleeping acid blockers!
  8. I just wanted to share some of my anti heartburn tricks for quick relief. I've been getting it bad the past couple of days because I'm a bad patient and haven't been taking my acid blockers. Chewing gum: makes you salivate more which cuts down on the acid buildup. Also aids digestion. Water with lemon juice: lowers the level of acidity in the stomach. Also aids digestion. Water w/ a tbsp of baking soda: immediate relief. Keep drinking til you start burping. It's a base. Add it to your acid and acid is neutralized; creates gas as a byproduct.
  9. Screw the scale! Get a measuring tape. It's the most accurate at measuring body fat.
  10. @@Chubbyklink They make you wear compression for plastic surgery so why not? It helps blood flow, reduces swelling, and gives support. We all have bellies so I agree. It should be in the "must use" list
  11. 30 chews per bite and wait 30 sec between bites.
  12. I get all my shapewear from Ross. Way cheaper than anywhere else. Although sometimes it's a crap shoot.
  13. I wish I would've had that idea. Most of my pain was from the weight of my stomach on my incisions.
  14. Light compression is great for healing. I had a top I was wearing the next day after surgery. My incisions were glued. Doc gave the OK so long as I washed them once a day.
  15. Yeah I heard the nutritionist at OCC. Unfortunately, I study health science and there's no evidence that carbonation or using a straw will stretch anything. I don't swallow air. I blow it out of my nose before swallowing. I know they meant well, but it works just fine for me. And I'll be one of those horrible patients that tries carbonation again after 6 months
  16. I get it too. I wiggle it out. My bf thinks it's funny. To sip, I take a normal amount of liquid and hold it in my mouth. Then I swallow a little at a time. Also, I find using a straw helps. Suck enough to get the liquid to your mouth and release.
  17. I was plicated 1/7. She was sleeved 1/6. Blossom does both procedures now but I was a self pay at the OCC in Mexico. I had a wonderful experience there and am doing great.
  18. I had internal dissolve stitching. I had a little pain a few days ago but nothing some children's Tylenol couldn't remedy. Usually stitches are kept in for 2 weeks, so your pain is probably flesh filling in where the stitches dissolved.
  19. I'm only down 11 since surgery 1/7. I wouldn't worry if I were you.
  20. 38 lbs is amazing! Don't worry about a stall. A stall means your body is working on repairing. Fat is metabolized in cycles from most dangerous to least. Think of it like carving a turkey for thanksgiving depending on the want of each guest. One wants dark meat, then white meat, then a leg, then a thigh, then dark meat again etc. You've come a long way in a very short amount of time. If your weight didn't move after 2 weeks, then you can look to adding some activity or drinking more water.
  21. Your doc should've suggested an acid blocker. Either Prilosec or similar. My doc gave me a 2 month supply.
  22. I only really the it when I get migraines. Haven't had one since before surgery, but thanks for letting me know. Smart girl
  23. @@Pac-woman I'm glad you know what works for you. I sure as Hell don't, lol. Frankly I think ibuprofen is the best at killing my pain. I must be a light weight. Percocet makes me crazy. Like body sleepy and mind racing. So discombobulating to me. I don't think I can take any opiates anymore since I had a bad reaction to a morphine shot. My whole body cramped up. It was super painful. They had to give me 2 benadryl shots before it settled down.
  24. Wow! Percocet? I keep reading of doctors dishing out narcotics for the pain and it worries me. I know everyone is different, but Percocet would've made me so nauseous. They only gave me anti-inflammatory meds in my overnight stay. The pain was very bearable. Only some stinging at the incisions. I was told to get children's Tylenol for anything else when I was sent home. Didn't need it until day 3.
  25. If you have any good reason not to other than personal opinion, I'd gladly hear it. The end effect is the same as the sleeve and the studies are promising. It may replace gastrectomy in the US in the next few years. I'd advocate self education over personal beliefs any day. I'm not saying gastrectomy isn't a valid wls. I'm just saying consider your options. It's a luxury self pay Mexico patients have over insurance covered U.S. operations.
