    Stomach swollen

I'm a little concerned about my sleeve. I had surgery on November 17. Everything was fine until a couple days ago. I started noticing that my stomach was a little swollen right under my left breast. It hurts when I get up or sit down. It's not near any of the incisions. Other than that, everything is fine. I'm eating fine with no nausea. Does anyone know what could be causing the swelling and pain?

    Sleeved today! Nov 17

I was sleeved today, November 17. So far so good!!! I thought the pain would be much worse than it is. I had my gallbladder out 5 weeks ago, and that was much more painful. I only really have pain getting up and down out of bed or a chair. And even that is minimal. Right now I'm just very tired which is probably from the anesthesia. I haven't been nauseous at all. I'm just very thirsty right now and I'm only allowed 4 oz of ice chips every 8 hours. I have my leak test tomorrow and I'm hoping for it to be successful. I hope the rest of my healing time is just as easy.
  3. I'm on the 17th as well. I had my presurgery tests last week. I'm getting so nervous that my sleeve date is quickly approaching. So far I'm doing OK on the liquid diet, although it's hard. It's even harder when someone brings sweets into work and you can't have any . Overall, I'm surviving. Luckily, I have great support at home and my family is on the liquid diet with me at dinner. Good luck with your surgery!

    Insurance Coverage if Complications

I used to work in billing for walgreens. There was one patient I came across who had the bypass surgery who was a self pay for the surgery because her insurance didn't cover it. she had complications from the surgery and her insurance would not cover anything that resulted from the surgery. Not trying to scare you, but unfortunately it's the business of insurance.

    What about gum?

My NUT said the same thing about accidentally swallowing gum. I don't know about anyone else, but I've never accidentally swallowed gum. Oh well.

    Psych testing?

Mine was a computer based test. Really easy questions. Basically the test is making sure you're not crazy. And then the interview is really basic. Why you're getting the surgery, and why you got to weight you're at (binge eating, or snacking). And how you can cope with eating in the future. You'll do fine.
  7. They will probably call you this week to schedule appointments. It was fast to get the psych evaluation. If I were you and you wanted to expedite the process, I would make an appointment with the pulmonologist asap. There's about a 4-5 week wait to get in. Then most likely you'll have to do a sleep study. All told from start to surgery date, the process took exactly 3 months for me.
  8. I'm 28 and from Chicago, IL. I went to my seminar on August 16th and I'm getting sleeved on November 17th. It's been almost an exact 3 month process. I'm absolutely terrified of what's to come, but excited at the same time. I'm hoping to find someone to share the 'journey' with.
  9. I'm having the same problem. Originally, I just kept telling work that I needed to have my gallbladder removed. Which was true. The plan was to get sleeved and have gallbladder removed at the same time. Unfortunately, my gallbladder didn't want to wait, and was removed 5 weeks before my scheduled surgery date of November 17th. Now I really don't know what to tell my job, and it might be odd to them that I had two surgeries within 5 weeks.
  10. I'm having my surgery November 17 at Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove. Would love to have some buddies.
