I can understand how you feel. I lost my own mother 15 years ago, but I still miss her. For a few years after she passed, I would find myself wanting to call her and let her in on whatever was going on. But you know what? My memories of her are so strong that she stays in my heart and I can imagine her saying things that I need to hear. With time, you will hurt a little less and rejoice a little more that you were blessed with such a mother.

Hey sista girl, of course you miss her, and always will. 9 years later I miss my mom like she left yesterday. Sometimes I think I see her in the street, but it's just someone who reminds me of her. Tell her happy birthday, tell her about the plans you have, tell her how much you miss her. I was alone during my surgery because the only two people who I would of shared this with both died the same year. My mom and sister is forever in my heart. Your mom will be forever in yours. Have a good pre op tomorrow and I wish you peace and blessings.

  10. HELLO,BARIATRIC FAMILY,I WAS TALKING TO MY BARIATRIC DR TODAY AND SHE SURPRIZED ME AND I JUST WANT TO WHAT YOU THINK ON THIS,I HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT GETTING THE BY-PASS AND DUE TO THE WEIGHT I HAVE LOSSED I HAVE LOST IT DUE TO MY MOTHER PASSING LAST MONTH AND I EXPLAINED TO HER THE WEIGHT THAT CAME OFF EF DUE TO ME BEING KIND OF DEPRESSED I COULDNT BELIEVE IT MYSELF I HAD LOST 28 LBS IN 2 WEEKS AND SHE SAID SHE THINK I SHOULD HAVE THE SLEEVE NOW WHAT WOULD YOU DO...SHE TOLD ME HAVING THE SLEEVE YOU LOOSE WEIGHT JUST LIKE THE BY PASS JUST THE BY PASS IS A LIL MORE WORK SO WHAT YOU THINK

    1. IcanMakeit

      IcanMakeit

Let me start by admitting that I love my sleeve and definitely did not want the bypass. I was completely turned off by the permanent malabsorption of micronutrients associated with the bypass. That being said, I think you should research all the different surgeries and make whichever choice seems best for you. What works for me may not be perfect for someone else.

  14. For the people who have already had your operation what have been the most furstraiting part for you in your journey so far

    1. Miss Mac

      Miss Mac

The most aggravating part for me was the pre-op process of meeting all of the insurance requirements and agonizing over waiting for the approval. The surgery and recovery and habit changes have been no problem.

It depends on how you heal. I was back in the gym 2½ weeks after. I had no complications or pain. I was taking water aerobics and had to wait for the incisions to scab before I could get back in the pool. I was walking from day1. Just listen to your body and when you get tired, stop.

Yes finediva, I like what you said about Go with your Heart. This is a time you won't get back with your Mom, and you do have to balance your time with her and taking care of your self. I would say give yourself permission to make the right decision, without guilt, there is NO wrong choice here. Sending you a hug!

The hardest thing was getting off the couch by myself for the 1st week, but I went back to work 1 week after WLS with no problems. The best thing ?? EVERYTHING IS BETTER ! I look and feel better, people treat me better, no more sleep apnea or digestive problems, I can shop in any store for cute clothes, yada yada yada..............

    3. BladeFox

      BladeFox

I am like @ Blerdgirl that didn't have any problems whatsoever! I am finding that folk that had hernia repair have the hardest time during post surgery so hopefully they won't find a hernia to repair when they go in. I love looking great in clothes even though I am not down to my goal, I look FABU! I'm not out of plus size clothing yet, but just a few more pounds and I'll be in Misses where I want to be. Recommendation: Lose the bulk of your weight during the first 4-6 months when you have the most restriction because it will be harder afterwards after you adjust to it. NEVER FORGET THIS!

For sure before the date. The food will be tempting and adjustments with your diet will be challenging.

  21. ms.mitchell39

What types of food can you enjoy down the road?

This is a great topic cause I been wondering the same thing...

  23. I WANNA KNOW FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THERE OPERATIONS HOW ARE YOU EALING WITH THE EXTRA SKIN IS IT AGGIVATIN HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH IT DEALING WITH CLOTHING

    1. BladeFox

      BladeFox

I'm just now dealing with a sit'che'ation right now with skinny jeans. I am an Apple shape, yet tall, so my height helps me out a lot, however, when I try on the right size jeans they didn't close around the muffin top - yet the legs felt perfect so I went a bit bigger and now need to return them and go back to the right size. I guess it's Spanx and Girdles in jeans until I get the blub removed. EEeeeWwww!

thats my main concern too...i've been researching and found that weight training and toning before u start to lose is really helpful so thats been my focus in the gym. I've also been taking bamboo extract supplements and drinking tons of water. I'm very tall so i'm hopin that helps, plus i'm pretty solid for my size
