  1. Yay, congratulations! Hope all goes well for you. You will have to share your experiences with us when you feel up to it. We aren't that far out but it seems like it is forever away.
  2. Congratulations! Don't be disappointed in yourself. You have made a huge decision, in the right direction, for a healthier you. We all eat things that really isn't good for us sometimes. We are human. I have been on this high protein, low carb diet for almost 7 months now and tonight, I did a no no. I ate 6 chick fa la chicken nuggets. Wrong answer and big mistake. My stomach has hurt for the last 2 hours. I am guess from them being fried and my tummy isn't used to that anymore, and I haven't even had my sleeve yet. Won't cheat again. Lol Chin up, hold your head high. You are on your way to a more beautiful, more healthier you. That is something to be proud of!
  3. Congratulations! Oh I remember that day. Was kinda nervous simply because I hate being put to sleep. I had 3 c-sections and had to be put to sleep for those also. I know I will have to for my sleeve too but to me, that is the scariest part. I am not a chocolate eater but I love the chocolate premier protein. It's a good thing seeing I will have to have them. Just hope my taste buds don't change after my sleeve. Lol
  4. Welcome to our group. Congratulations on your date. You will definitely have to fill all of us January Sleevers in on your experiences. As you are being sleeved, I will be having my finally visit with my surgeon before my big day. I am so excited, I can't wait!
  5. Congratulations! Who is doing your surgery? I go and talk to my surgeon to get the run down on what to expect at the hospital and to get my pre op labs on the 29th. January 6th is my big date.
  6. I am not in Louisville but I am in Glasgow. Where are you at in your journey? I would be happy to be a supporter.

  8. @@sleevedmanda, I have already done my EGD. They did call me today to set up my surgeon meeting, December 29th. From there they will tell me what all I need to know and expect while at the hospital and to let me know when to come to do my final labs. I started the suggested diet back when I started this process. It is basically the South Beach diet in a nut shell. High Protein, low carb, low fat diet. I drink a Premier Protein shake for Breakfast and a low fat meat for lunch and dinner and a low carb veggie also. Watch the proportion size. They recommended I went and got a baby plate that you can get at Walmart, that has the little dividers in them making 3 sections. Meat in the large section and veggie in one of the other. The third, for me, remains empty. I have cut out all soft drinks. I drink tea, Water, crystal light and skim milk. Hard?? YES!!, in the beginning but it has become a part of my life now. I am determined to follow through with this. Not only for myself but for my kids, husband, mom, and my granddaughter that will be born in March. I have lost 30 lbs. I am not required to do a 2 week liquid diet. I have to a week before surgery, start with a shake for breakfast, a meal like I am doing for lunch and a shake for dinner. Day before surgery, comes the liquid diet. I am so anxious and ready to have this done. There is a chance that I have a small hernia from when I had my hysterectomy 7 months ago but wont know for sure til he gets in there. He will fix that too if there is. All the advice I can give you is just be true to yourself and your new life and tummy. Its a big change and not one to take lightly. Its a tool, not a permanent fix. Its going to take hard work and dedication. We can do this and help each other stay on track. I would love to befriend all I meet on here. We are the only ones that know what we are going through and the trials and errors that we are facing and are gonna face. I am here for all as I hope all are here for me.
  9. Well tomorrow is the big day! I am so excited for you and everyone else having it tomorrow. Praying all goes well for you and let us know how it goes when you feel up to it. Take care.
  10. So excited that I now have multiple people on and around my date to share experiences with and be a support system with. Now just to get my pre op appt date so I know what is going to take place in my neck of the woods. Sounds like there are so many different ways that every surgeon handles their patients. WE CAN DO THIS FRIENDS! WOO HOO! Lol
  11. @time of June - I am hoping for a 2 night stay. Not sure what the procedure is yet as I haven't been to my pre op yet. I am hopeful that I won't have to give myself any injections as I hate needles also. I know they are tiny but a needle is a needle. You will do ok. Remember this will begin our new lives.
  12. Oh wow, I hate to hear that. I love the chocolate premier protein and I don't like anything chocolate. I have tried others and to me this is the best one yet. I hope you get to feeling better quickly. Sounds like you need to take some benedryl. Get well soon.
  13. I should be having my pre-op appointment next week. Supposed to get a call sometime this week to set that up. *Groan* and i thought the 6 days of waiting to get my surgery date was forever. Lol
  14. Congratulations and best of luck. You will do fine.
  15. Good luck on your surgery tomorrow. You can do this. Mine is the 6th of January. I am totally excited. Let us know how things go for you.
  16. I am not required to do a liquid diet but a week prior I am supposed to start doing to protein shakes and a high protein, low carb, low fat meal. Only have to do liquid diet day before surgery. That's a good thing I guess. Good luck to you and let me know how it goes if you feel up to it.
  17. Got the call today. I hate to say it but this is as bad as a child waiting for Christmas! Three weeks are gonna take forever to get here. Was so hoping to have it by years end but they said that there were several people who's insurance would be terminated on January 1st so they wanted to try to get them all in first. Oh well, the important thing is I was approved and have a date. This just gives me more time to loose a few extra pounds and shrink the liver. Lol Good luck to all those who have their surgery between tomorrow and the end of the year. Chime in and let me know about your experiences. I would so like to hear about them.
  18. They would like for you to lose weight but not a requirement. Just can not weigh more on surgery day than you did on your first weigh in. I have lost 29 lbs. I have cut out all sodas, fried foods and very low carb consumption. Was hard for the first few weeks but it became a habit and now I don't think about it. I was reluctant that I would be able to do it, but I have and can't wait to get my date.
  19. Thanks for all the advice. I was curious myself. Best of luck to you tomorrow. Update when you can to let us know how it went and your experience. Will have mine before the end of the year, or so they say....
  20. I will be using The Medical Center in Bowling Green. I have BC/BS. They are wanting me to have my surgery before years end. I am excited but I am not patient when it comes to waiting for answers. Hopeful to get my date by next Wednesday. How about you? Where are you having your surgery?
  21. I am waiting on approval from my insurance. I have completed all 6 months of my doctor supervised diet. I have lost 29 lbs. With my surgeon, if you weigh more than you did at your first weigh in on surgery day, he will refuse to do surgery. He wants a commitment from all of his patients that they can show they are willing to do what it takes to loose the weight before and after the surgery. I get tempted all the time to go on eating sprees but I also am going to have my first grandchild in March and want to be around for a long time. I want to be able to play in the floor with her and and do things with her that I unfortunately missed out with my 3 boys. I hope all goes well with your surgery. I will have mine before the end of the year and am extremely excited. Best wishes!
  22. I did my last dietary yesterday. They were going to turn it into insurance today. Said it takes about a week. Oh the wait.....Is there anyone on here from or around the Bowling Green, Kentucky area??? I haven't been able to locate anyone. Would like to have a buddy.
  23. I bought the hard copy this past Monday. Excited to read.
