  1. You get out what you are willing to put in. Willing to follow your doctors instruction, get fills and work at it? You can lose alot more then 50%. I started at 256, had surgery 11/12/07 and as of this morning I weighed in at 169.
  2. I am doing well, about 70 pounds down since my 11/12/2007 surgery date and I want to lose about 30-40 more. I just had my 3rd fill last week and have nice restriction. How is everyone else doing?? Unfortunately I cant make the meetings, I usually dont get out of work until almost 7.
  3. Have you contacted Dr.Myers at Fresh Start Bariatrics? http://www.freshstartbariatrics.com He is through Riverside Hospital in Columbus and he does do fills for bander's who were not banded by him. He and his staff is awesome.
  4. I was banded by Dr.Myers on 11/12 and so far have lost almost 60 pounds. I think initially they push GB because it has faster results and they want you to be happy. Once I decided on the LapBand they were very supportive. I love everyone in the office and love the fact that they require you to use McConnell after surgery, I think incorporating the dietician information and excercise has made all the difference in my progress. I had some complications after my surgery and Dr.Myers and Mike were great, I would recommend Fresh Start to anyone thinking of getting the band.
  5. I was banded on 11/12 and expected to go home later that day. I was unable to keep anything down but kept attempting to drink. I went home on 11/15 but ended up back in the hospital less then 24 hours later due to dehydration. Some people are more sensitve and swell more, my esophagus was swollen above the band. When I tried to drink my esophagus would spasm trying to pass the Fluid down to my stomach which in turn caused more swelling, my saliva wasnt even able to pass. I had an MRI and they could see that the band was on fine but I had serious swelling and any fluid hitting it was causing problems. They put a tube down my nose (uncomfortable but at that point I was willing to do ANYTHING) and that kept fluid out of there and allowed the swelling to finally go down. 48 hours later I did a barium swallow and everything passed fine. I too had serious regrets, no one is really prepared for complications. Please hang in there, she is where she needs to be for the best care and will be home soon enough. I finally feel back to normal and pleased with my decision (26 pounds down!) and it wont be long till she does.
  6. I am not sure what band is being used, I know he told me but I dont remember. Information overload!! Topdownbug- Did you have to stay over night? I am the first surgery of the day and hope to go home that night. How did you feel after? Super nervous!!!!!!
