  1. thank you so much for responding. i realize this isnt the correct forum, but I did intend on the lap band. I was begining to think no one would respond.
  2. Ok, I don't exactly know where to start but I will start with: Today I went for a consult with dr. Jay. He suggested I have the gastric sleeve procedure done. I have a history of healing complications and he advised this would bypass all of those possibilities. I have scheduled for the procedure on 12-4. NOW I AM FREAKING OUT. :help: anyone know anyone that has had this, what their success has been? all those other questions.
  3. Just a helpful hint for your hair: (May help may not) get your hair saturated wet with tap or bottled water prior to getting into swimming pool.
  4. I haven't been banded but just talking about taste and protein shakes, I love the premade myoplex light chocolate shakes.
  5. I am excited to come in for my appointment on 11/29. Does anyone else have appointments scheduled @TLCEdge?
  6. when is the surgery center going to open, more specifically when will you be able to perform surgeries.
  7. My husband was competely against wls (very big deal since I will be a self pay). He has now said I can have it for Christmas. But subsequently he has called me fat lazy piece of poop and other similar names. Breaks my heart to the core. I have no misconceptions that loosing weight will make things better. I think he is threatened bythe wls. I have been thin before and nothing was different. I guess I am saying I whole heartedly want his support. I am not going to get it, he will be passive aggressive and make me feel guilty for needing the surgery. Heck I feel guilty for needing the surgery. The one thing you hear is you have to be happy with yourself before you can be happy with anyone else. I am afraid this will break our marriage. So moral of the story is, if her support is less than desired maybe she just needs time.
  8. Little J, I feel like u wrote my weight battle w/ the exception of I have lost 80lbs twice by being bulimic. Now that I want to looe the weight be diet and exercuise, nothing is happening. It is frustrating and depressingto KNOW u r eating healthy and working out hard for nothing to happen. When I explained all this to my dr, he tried to be compassionate, but basically told me I was lying. I am at my wits end with the whole thing. I cant deal with the poor body image, which is so tied to self worth. I am attending 2 consults next week...I hope to be banded by Christmas. My fear is I will be banded and it wont work, just like everything else.
  9. I don't have a surgery date but plan on having it done before the end of the year. I go in for consults on 11-28 & 11/29. I am freaking out too. I am afraid it won't work for me. And i will pay 12grand and still be fat and miserable.
  10. I haven't been banded yet either, I LOVE peanut butter though. Maybe I need to stay away from it. I like the Skippy Natural creamy peanut butter. It is delicious.
  11. Just wondering if the band allows you to eat peanut butter?
  12. jandss, how was ur experiance w,dr barker?
  13. do you have their contact info, i found one web site, but it looked like it was for doc's not patients?
  14. Come on Gentylwind, let us know the scoop
  15. Thanks to those of you who took the time to reply. Chris NJ your response ,hough short and sweet, begs the question why did it take a surgery for you to care about living? And what if the surgery did not work for you. I have read several threads with people complaining that the band isn't working for them.
  16. Hello everyone, I am new to the board and want to ask, How have you come to the decision lapband is/was right for you? Is anyone disappointed in thier procedure? Does the reward outweigh the risk? How do you deal with the complications? Sorry I know thats a lot of stuff, I am just having a difficult time making a decision. My husband is NOT supportive, he says I just need to get on a treadmill. Well I have only ever lost weight by throwing up and exercising like a mad woman. The 5 small meals exercising 1hr a day does NOTHING for me. I have talked to my dr and other dr's about this and they act like I am lying or crazy. Which I am doing neither. I am soooo tired of being overweight.
  17. No, but please let me know what you find out, I live in the Dallas area and my insurance will not cover the procedure. I would love to find out about that.
