  1. Boy! Am I ever glad I logged on tonight and read everyone's comments about this. This is my first time posting comments. I had surgery on Sept. 19th and so far have lost 74 lbs. I just had my 5th fill a week ago Monday. My band holds 10cc's and I now have 7.6 cc's of liquid in it. My fill last week was only .2cc's, but boy did it make a difference. I had been on a plateau for the last 3 months mainly because I have been off track and eating sugar. But since my fill, I've already lost 7 lbs. I have really good restriction now and my appetite is small during the day. My problem though is that at bedtime, I am gurgling every 5 seconds and it lasts for hours which severely impacts my sleep. I've had the PB with liquid and bile and have had the cough as well as waking up gasping a few times. I thought I found my "sweet spot" that my doctor says we'll get to after tweaking the band, but now I'm only getting a few hours of sleep at night and can't stand this gurgling that persists whether I'm sitting up or laying down. So are those of you that have experienced these symptoms agreeing that this is due to a band that's too tight?
  2. Hi Sylvia, My Doc told me the same thing because my pre-surgery weight was over 300 lbs. He said that I would have better results with GB, but I didn't want to do it. I felt the band would be better for me and I liked the idea that it didn't have to be permanent and that I wouldn't risk the problems that come with it like malabsorbtion and dumping. Anyway, I had the band and the same Doc did my surgery on Sept. 19th and I'm down to 241 as of today. Not knowing the medical reasons behinds your Docs advice, I think the choice should be yours. I'd ask him if he feels if it's still medically safe for you to go forward with the band and if so, then I'd stick to your preference. Hope that helps!
