  1. Well I received my approval letter today from Kaiser that I've "met the guidelines for the Weight Loss Surgery program here at Kaiser Permanente." I'm very happy but I guess I'm a little confused. I thought once I received the approval from Kaiser that I would be "good to go" because they ARE my insurance carrier??!! But it looks like I have to meet with a patient coordinator to make sure that Medicare will approve it (I'm on Medicare because I'm on disability for other reasons). I'm so confused!!
  2. I am sooo nervous about the pre-op liquid diet. I love food (who doesn't LOL). I feel like I'm going to have to get all the food out of the house and hide the keys to my car to get through it! P.S. Glad your kids are o.k.
  3. I'm with everyone on this one! I agree, I want this so badly that now I'm afraid that I'll get denied (is it all too good to be true???). I'm trying to stay positive until I have that hot little approval letter in my hand.
  4. Thank you for posting this! This was so helpful. And thanks for the tip about the gas. I'm not looking forward to that but it's nice to know about it before hand. Good luck!!! You are on your way.
  5. I just saw the doc this week and we got the ball rolling for the gastric sleeve surgery. I have to go through 6 weeks of classes with a LCSW and a RD before the surgery. Those classes start 11/11/14. Then due to the holidays my surgery isn't going to be scheduled until mid January. I'm so excited to get this process going ! But to be honest I'm glad I get to go through the holidays one last time. Sad I know, LOL. I'm not going to totally live it up and gain weight. But my understanding is once you have the surgery eating sweets is really difficult and can make you sick. I am a sugar addict for sure, so I'm actually looking forward to this! But one last Thanksgiving of pumpkin pie and a Christmas of good Cookies...well I can't say I'm totally disappointed.

    Devastated :(

I agree with the above comments. I'd be thankful that I didn't have surgery from this guy if he's someone who just up and moves. What if you had the surgery and had complications and he was just gone? That would be way scary. I know you are VERY frustrated, but I agree. Call your insurance and see if there are other options. Even if you have to travel half a day to another hospital and stay at a hotel for a few days it would be worth it! GOOD LUCK! I'm saying a prayer for you.
  7. I just found out today that I'm going to have the sleeve surgery 1/15. So happy and exited!!

  8. I've never seen it before. Where is it located?
