    Smoking....

If you think your hiding your habit, let me say that non-smokers are like those drug sniffing dogs ! Very alert to the odor of cigarette smells. I am over 200 days since quitting and I thought I was a non-stinky smoker. I washed my hands and rinsed my mouth after smoking and I thought my nose was still sensitive to odors but boy was I wrong ! It was not until I had been smoke free for a few months that my nose woke back up full force. BTW I was a solid 27 year smoker, 1-2 packs a day. I used Chantix and my husband and I quit a week apart. My dad lives with us and he is a 2 pack a day smoker outside but I still smell him and honestly my tummy turns when he comes back in. Good luck quitting, and on your surgery. If I could quit anyone can, and I'm sure you will be successful if you put your mind to it.

    16 days out

Glad I'm not the only one who pretty much skipped puree stage. Just could not stomach puree meat. I'm 23 days out today and have not had any problems thus far with soft foods. Good luck everyone.

    Bad breath

Yes and I just asked my surgeon about this yesterday at my 10 day post op. He said you can order a stuff called dexcom from bariatric advantage. And yes it's ketosis from your body consuming more protein then anything else. I am in the same boat with you all on this. But I've been cleared to go to puree and it gets better.

October 2014 sleevers check in please!

Checking in here. Procedure done on October 21, starting weight 225, current weight 207 yesterday. Those numbers include my 10 day pre - surgery liquid diet. I had a textbook experience/procedure. I am 6 days post and I'm not close to meeting my water and protein requirements. Yesterday I was wanting real food so bad, my stomach was actually growling. This morning I woke up before 5 am with some serious back pain. I think it's the binder I wear 24/7. Plus I quite taking all meds by Friday. Other then that everything has been great.
  6. I could not have had a better experience for this procedure. There are a few nurses the who have have the surgery with the surgeons so they completely understand your issues before and after. My surgery was at 9:30 and I was in my room before noon. Got up and walked within 2 hours, the nurse encouraged me, but I had these painful gas pains in my lower right side. Walking must have helped because the gas soon passed.I got released at noon the next day. Now that I'm home and I have dropped 10 lbs in 5-6 days the only problem I am having is lower back pain that wakes me up. I suspect that it's the binder because I wear it 24/7 even to sleep in. And I am not meeting my fluid/protein requirements but that was to be expected. I'm sure your experience will be as good as mine. Maybe we will meet up in future at a support meeting. I'm not local, I'm from Yuba City area. Good luck to you
  7. I am a patient of Dr. Ludwig. I had a better than awesome experience this past Tuesday getting my vsg. The hospital staff was phenominal. Of course both Dr Simchuk and Dr Ludwig go into every surgery together to assist each other. If you did not have a good experience I'm sorry for that.
  8. Jamdam, I was sleeved on 21st. I have same issues as you so I'm thinking it must be normal. Also cold protein drinks hurt. I'm no where near my goal of protein and liquid consumption.
  9. I'm not going to miss my belly sitting on my lap every time I take a seat. Yay, surgery in 9 days !

    Insulin Pumpers having VSG?

I'm was a type 2 but now am a type 1. I wear a pump and take 100-150 units a day. Vsg on October 21 2014. Starting my 10 day liquid diet tomorrow. I am very scared about what my blood sugars will do. I am reading all these post and they are so what comforting. I still have questions. My endo advised me to edit my basil rate by 50% when I started liquid diet and monitor from there. What did everyone else do ? I hope we are not the only ones checking in on here Jessiquot !
