  1. I was also banded on 4/17/08. The only pain I'm having is when I stand up. Then I get a burning sensation where my port is. I'm starting to get hungry. Trying to stick to the Protein shakes, etc. Good luck everyone!
  2. I am close to getting my surgery. My doc's office gave me a prescription for blood work the other day for me to take to the lab. For the first time I saw my diagnosis written out....MORBID OBESITY. After all the stares and whispers (which were loud enough for me to hear), I'm not sure why but I never put me and that diagnosis together. Sure, I saw my reflection in the mirror. I guess I've been in a bit of denial. Oh well, I can't change the past. I'm going to work hard for a great future though. Good luck to all of you!
  3. I'm considering getting banded, but I have a concern. My dad has had colon cancer and I have been told that I need to have a colonoscopy every 5 years. I'm wondering if anyone has had a colonoscopy post banding and what kind of preparation were you able to do with the band in place? Will the preparation be a problem with the ban? I know that getting rid of my extra weight would help me be healthier, but I also know that colon cancer is genetic and I have to have regular colonoscopies. Thanks. Beth
  4. Good luck! I'm new too. I went to a seminar last week. I'm lucky that my insurance covers the surgery. I have told some family members/friends about my interest in the surgery and have been very surprised by their negative responses. I'm not going to let their opinions discourage me. I need to do this for me. They may like me fat, but I don't like being like this. I hope you aren't discouraged by the insurance company. Continue trying to get the surgery approved. B-
