  1. Hi - I hear your heartbreak! I have been banded since 2004. I gained 35 lbs this year. I had huge success until this problem happened! About a year ago my fills stopped working. We have spent this year trying to find out what is wrong. My surgeon cannot find a leak. To complicate matters I have developed intense pain below my port. I have been on and off antibiotics for months. My band is now loosened. I am on week three now of low calories using My Fitness Pal and I did the Five Day Pouch Test and used it to stop my cravings. It worked! Google Five not 5 when you search. The first day was hard but it is an easy plan. You don't need to buy the one that is being sold unless you want to. I am feeling better about myself and it's a start to losing the weight I've gained until I get this Band mess sorted out. :-)
  2. I have had my band for over 10 years.
  3. Hi - I get pain on my left side around my port if I try sleeping on my left side. I have also been suffering from grim pain deep inside, below my port. My band is loosened to give my tummy a rest. It's been a long haul and my surgeon does not know what is going on. Sorry, I diverted ---I would get in to your Dr. faster if it is getting worse. They usually make room for someone who is getting worse. Good luck!
  4. Hi - I'm in BC - banded 2004!
  5. Hi - Nice to hear from you! How is your band performing?
  6. I am going to try the 5 day pouch test. Trying to get to the bottom of my band problems. My band only has a 2 cc fill in it now as it locked at 4cc. Normally I take 8cc. What is the correct procedure for detecting a leaky band. My fills were only giving me restriction for about 2 days. I have had a 2 day dye test under CT scans and exploratory port surgery. They could only access about 6" of tubing and pressure test the port in this procedure. All looked good. Feeling despair.
  7. Hi and thanks! I am seeing my surgeon about 2 x a week trying to sort it out. What do you mean by 'reset'? I am happy to have found you all and look forward to learning and sharing with you veterans! I will read through more posts.
  8. Hello - what is the procedure to detect a leak then.
  9. Hi - a Midband is the brand name of the type of Gastric Band I have. My band will not stay restricted which would indicate leaking but my surgeon says it isn't. Have had 2 different CT scans with dye. After a day or two my band does nit maintain restriction and I can eat anything.
  10. banded in 2004! Looking for experienced bandsters. I am having big problems.
  11. Hello - I have had the Midband since 2004. I lost all my weight successfully and over the past 8 months I have gained 40lbs. My band will not hold a fill. A fill only lasts about a day or two. I am hungry a lot and don't feel sated after I eat. I have tried eating around 1300 - 1500 calories a day and my weight does not budge. My surgeon does not know what is wrong. I have had a 2 day leak test - no leak. No hernia, no slippage none of the typical problems that can arise. My port was pressured tested under exploratory surgery and it is fine. I am looking to experienced bandsters for help and support. Am I in the right place? Thanks!
  12. Hi - I was banded in 2004 in BC Canada. I lost about 85 lbs. About 8 months ago my fills started not working. I'd get a fill and within two days I had no restriction. I had dye tests done for leakage. No leakage. He surgically checked my port to pressure test it and it was fine. I have been on antibiotics for months. I have grim pain around my port and am on antibiotics again. I have had many CT scans but they can't see anything wrong with my band. I also have a low grade fever. I take Tramacet for pain. I have gained 40 lbs. my surgeon has told me he does not know what is going on. Its scary, the pain is terrible and I feel ill. He is doing everything he can to save this band. I at my wits end! Feedback welcome.
