  1. My daughter had gastric RNy November 2007 and as of May 2008 has lost 90 pounds. she weighed 270 pds. She can never eat anything with high fructose corn syrup in it ever!! I had the lapband march 2008 and have lost 28 pounds. I can eat the high fructose items without "dumping" Everything is like before my surgery but I cannot eat large quantities. You still get hungry, I am in my "fill" stage so food can still be eaten, so you have to use a lot of control. Protein, and more Protein. If you eat protein, you do not get as hungry. This is the only difference as far as food goes, medically speaking lapband is easier surgically My daughter stayed in the hospital 2 days , I came home the same day.
  2. Your dietician needs to help you. Always eat protein first, then veggies, then fruit. Fruit is the last thing you add to your diet. I keep my fruit as a snack. Benefiber for the BM, I had colon surgery 3 years ago, so this was an issue with me to. It has changed since my lapband. Maybe 1 to 2 times a week is all, I use to go at least 1 per day. Please dont worry about it, Just drink lots of water Very important!! Best wishes
  3. OK I agree with you something is wrong. Are your feet and hands puffy? You might have a little infection going on. Did you have a hiatal hernia? I had severe gastric reflux and my hernia was repaired when I had my lapband and I have not had to take any meds. You might already have a band slippage if you were having a hard time at the hospital was vomiting. Please call your Doctor. Best wishes
  4. The day before my fill I was told to only drink liquids, as the stomach pouch should not have food in it. Then for 3 days after only protein shakes because the stomach swells a little bit, and food can get stuck. Then for 10 days no beef or pork .
  5. I had my first fill, and did not fill anything. I first had a small needle of something to numb the site, and I didnt even fill that because it was inserted in the incision site which is kinda numb anyway. Then the fill needle was inserted, small pop when inserted , then I had to sit up with the needle in the port and drink water. Nothing to it!! I am so sorry for your pain! Tell them you want something to numb you next time!

did you have a hiatal hernia? If you had a repair it could be that, or you may should have had a hernia repair. Please call your Doctor, I would not treat this lightly.
  7. Even though I dont know you, I am very proud of you. It sounds like you dont handle anesethia very well though, So keep up with the deep breathing. Remember your liver was held up while the surgeon sewed your stomach around the band, so you are bruised on the inside. I had my lapband march 24th, and it will was about a week before I started feeling better. Give it at least that long, the nausea and stuff will go away after a couple of days, But if you have any thing that concerns you, please call you Drs. office right away, if anything it can bring you peace of mind. Lets hang in there! and get r done!
  8. I had my surgery on March 24 ! I eat 3/4 cup of food at a time with no problems. My stomach is starting to rumble the last couple of days, so I am wondering with my next dr. apt. on april 10 if I get a fill? I finally got rid of the shoulder pain from the gas. did you have that problem? I am still on mushies until next monday, but I did eat salmon fillet tonight, with no problem.
  9. Yes, me to! I had surgery march 24, last monday and still have shoulder pain, I am walking, heating pad, deep breathing helps, laying on my left side helps. I cants wait for that to go away! I had hernia repair also, so I have a lot of chest tightness and pain, does anyone else have this?
  10. The gas is causing so much pain! I just took a couple of beano pills I hope they work. Otherwise I am just sore. I had my surgery Monday March 24, and came home the same day.
  11. Dr Spaw at Baptist Hospital Nashville TN. He has you go on a 2 week diet of protein shakes and one lean cusine per day before surgery. It shrinks the liver so that he has easier access to do the lapband. I have just bought the Cambridge diet protein drink It is really good!! 110 calories per serving, with lots of protein. My surgery is March 24th, I am so excited!!!
  12. My insurance has an exclusion clause for WLS but will pay for the hiatal hernia operation, Can these surgeries both be done at the same time and the Surgeon work with a discount on the surgery I will be self pay for the actual WLS . Help
