@@kblanc First, it's normal to still have some pain at three days out. Did they send you home with pain medication? If not, I would definitely contact your surgeon and ask to have them call your pharmacy. They do have liquid pain medication, and they should be an easy fill at the pharmacy. Let them know you're having trouble keeping Water and Protein shakes down because of the pain. It *should* subside in a few days, though. I remember my pain last longer than usual, but after about a week, I was feeling much better. I hope you feel better soon!

@@jtellechea001 First, I'm sorry that you're not feeling great. Recovering from surgery is tough, it is. But remember: you're tougher than you think you are! You've got this, girl! You have to listen to your body, but you also have to remember that you are stronger than you think you are too. Your family means well, although my guess is that the message may be lost in the delivery. You have to advocate for yourself, most importantly. I agree with most of the folks on here. You DO have to get up and move, no matter what. Blot clots are a real possibility, and mobility is very important. Just moving SOME is important. I would be very clear with your family: Tell them you will get up and walk, but you will do what you can do today and tomorrow, you will add a little bit more, and the day after that a little bit more. Maybe today you can walk to the end of the street. Tomorrow, the end of the street plus the next mailbox. As long as there is a little bit of progress each day, that's what is important. It is YOUR body and YOU measure your success. Maybe keeping a chart so that you can see your progress each day, and even show THEM your progress each day would be helpful? You don't owe it to anyone, but visualization and seeing progress is always a great form of motivation - being able to see your success. I hope you feel better each day. You can rock this!

@@shedo82773 I think that's the point of the video, though. It's happening at home and at school by the people that are supposed to be protecting our children. There have also been studies down that show that people who have grown up overweight and teased are actually some of the same people who perpetuate fat bias and discrimination, because it's so ingrained in us that it's wrong and bad. WE are some of the worst offenders.

@@shedo82773 OMG! I'm so sorry for your husband's history! I really hope he's in a better place now, and I can certainly understand why you'd be hesitant in any type of lap band surgery. My understanding is that Carnie has done well with the BOB procedure. She and I are going to talk this week, so I'll be sure to ask her how she's been doing and report back. (I'll probably have our conversation recorded at some point as an interview, so I'll let you know when that happens.) Despite your husband's situation, I know lots of people who have had tremendous success with the lap band. Alex, the founder of Bariatric Pal, is one of them. He'll actually be interviewing with me on Backstage Pass Radio next Friday. I'm really sorry it wasn't the best option for your husband and it didn't work out well for him.

I'm sort-of, kinda new to Bariatric Pal and I have practically no friends on here. Wanna be friends? I haven't been on/in forums for a while, so I'm out of the loop on adding new friends, but please friend me if you'd like to keep in touch and stuff on here. Also, so I don't feel like the loser kid in the corner scuffing my feet (oh, hi, middle school!).

How is a forum full of (primarily) untrained medical professionals a resource? (No offense, guys. I count myself in there as well.) I just don't get it. Overweight children are under constant scrutiny with their weight. CONSTANT. I'm actually pretty shocked to read a lot of the comments here, because as I read them, I remember being a young child and constantly being talked to about my weight. It was always dressed up as "concern," but really, even as a child I knew that the subtext was always, "YOU'RE FAT." This whole thread just really breaks my heart for that little girl. Wow, this is a great thread for me to read. I'm an old-schooler and I have a channel on YouTube and still post every now and then, but not very often: DIVA TAUNIA. (Gastric bypass 2008) I actually didn't think anyone posted on YouTube about wls surgery anymore, but that's really just because the folks that were posting around the same time I was stopped doing so. It's really great to see all of these new faces and names, and I'm definitely going to check everyone out!

Gary, Carnie is already married and has been for a while...though I'm sure she'd appreciate the adulation. lol

shedo82773, I just thought I'd respond to this since no one else did. Carnie actually had a procedure called BOB or Band-Over-Bypass. They didn't "revise" the RNY, but instead placed a lap band over the original bypass (I'm paraphrasing, obviously, not using the exact technical jargon). It's another type of wls procedure.
