  1. Hi guys! I'm new to the site, just thought I would check it out! I had my sleeve done August 2013 in Mexico. I started out 235 wearing 14-16 pants and L-XL shirts, I currently weigh 125 wearing 2-4 pants. It has been an interesting journey to say the least, but one that I would not change- for anything! I would recommend it to anyone and everybody!

    Well i am home

Walk walk walk!! That's the only thing that helped me!
  4. I started out 235 before pre op and 227 before surgery. My goal was 135 and I hit that 9 months post. I currently weigh 126 and I'm slowing down, finally! I don't do anything particular, just eat protein mainly and take my vitamins! I also work out 3-4 times a week, so I'm trying to tone. I'm sure I'll put on a few lbs from muscle! (Hopefully!)

1 year down, many to go!

I mean eating and drinking at the same time! It's one or the other! Oh and it's hard cause your full but your mouth wants to taste more.. But in time, it gets easier!

I totally understand your fears! That was me.. I'm going to spend this money, time, miss work, be in pain and what if it doesn't work? Or what if I gain all the weight back? My cousin had it done 3 yrs ago, and she helped me tremendously! You have to look at the surgery as a tool.. It's not a fix. You can't drink things carbonated, just stay away from bread/pasta, greasy foods are not good for you, and I can't have milk products (upsets my tummy!) you have to look at it as your eating to fuel your body. Eat your protein and take your vitamins!!!! You will be just fine! When your full, your full. Don't keep eating, you'll throw up everywhere! Get used to not eating and drinking and not pooping a lot! :-/ I'm just being real! it's the best thing though, even though the first few months are rough! Hang in there!
  7. I also had the same fear! But after surgery they do a bariatric swallow (or should).. You drink this nasty chalky drink and take an X-ray to make sure there is no leaks. Also, after they do the surgery they make sure there are no leaks with air and water! Don't fret; they've done it a time or two!

1 year down, many to go!

Everything is a breeze! The only issues I have is I can't eat/drink milk products, it hurts my stomach too much :-/ and my hair started to fall out some due to not being able to intake enough protein.. But vitamins and shakes help a lot! Are you thinking of surgery or have you had it?

    Liquid Diet a Question

Mine started 2 wks before. For the first week I could have 3 protein shakes a day and a small chicken breast and veggies. The 2nd week for the first few days I had to be on a liquid diet.. I lived on soup, protein shakes, Gatorade, and really thin cream of wheat. Then I had to do the laxative (Ughh!) and then clear liquids after that, 3 days pre surgery. I had sugar free Popsicles and jello, (as many as I wanted), broth, and apple juice. It was a killer, but totally worth it! Stick in there!!

    Weight and Relationships

I can tell you this from personal experience.. I'm 1 yr out from surgery and everything has changed. From my body to my brain. I am now a firm believer in- if you are not happy with yourself all around, you can not make someone else happy. If you can't give 100% hands down to someone, then your not ready. It's not fair to you or them. When my cousin told me that (she's 3 yrs post op) I thought she was crazy.. I'm still me! I won't change. I now call BS on that. It brings to light how you do, think, say things. So, do not get discouraged. You do what best for you and when your ready and the time comes, you will find the right one!

That will be the best day of your life! I can promise you that!! It's exciting and scary all at the same time but I promise you all the weird drinks, vitamins, jello, and Popsicles will be worth it!

    Need a boost

I felt the same way! But your body has it's own process, just remember that. Also your working out and muscle weighs more than fat. So your losing weight, but gaining muscle. Don't get discouraged and keep up the good work!
