    Got my first fill today!!!

Man all of you have had different experiences that me! It's amazing how it varies from dr. to dr. I was banded on 4-18 and was LIQUIDS for 20 days, mushies for 10 and then real food for two weeks. I lost 17 pounds, and definitely could not eat much (about as much as my two year old) when I did start eating real food again. Then, I got my first fill two weeks ago, exactly on my six week band-iversary, and man oh man did I know it. After six days of liquids, and only 1.4 cc in my band, I still couldn't eat and now, two weeks later my band, the princess, has relaxed enough to allow me to eat THREE TO FIVE teaspoon fulls of food at lunch and maybe a cup of food at night. I'm now down 30 pounds from surgery. I was really worried about being too tight initially but now feel like it's what everyone told me, I just had to give it a bit of time!

    Throwing up??

I did the same thing and I BELIEVE the reason is...they medicated me for surgery as if I was this woman weighed what I weigh BUT I'm a lightweight when it comes to meds, and so after the fact, I was puking and puking for two days, they kept me on anti-nausea shots for a full 48 hours and then it finally stopped. Be strong and just know, this too shall pass...

    Major Diarrhea 4 days post-op

Think of it this way, Water in, water..... It lasted about a week and then, wonders of wonders, constipation followed, another week and then it leveled out. Just be still and make no sudden movements! :wink2:

    Mexico surgery post-op questions

I had surgery on the 18th with Dr. A and you will want some pj's, or sweats. I took two pair and was fine with that. The day of surgery I walked A LITTLE bit and then the following day, I tore the halls up but just take it as you can. The bed mattresses are firm, not necessarily comfortable for a softer is better girl like me, and the pillows are so-so but the hospital is beautiful and the care is OUTSTANDING! The surgery is a breeze so just let yourself heal and enjoy the care!

    Hello all, just banded 4/18

Hi there! I was banded on the same day! I keep wondering how long I can keep doing this, but I keep doing it, so that must be a good thing:) Good luck to you as we both take this one day at a time, and sometimes, for me at least, it's one meal at a time! :tt2: A

    Banded 4/17

I was banded on the 18th and I have lost 10 pounds, which just blows my mind. I'm suppose to start my shakes tomorrow but other than that, it is broth and jell-o and the occasional popsicle. I keep wondering how long I can do this, but I keep doing it, even when my husband made fried peppers with cheese last night and asked, "Can't you have just one?" CRAZY MAN! As for the pain, I am still suffering from gas pains in my shoulder and my port is uncomfortable as of yet. I suppose we'll soon find out. I wish you the best, and the best to all of us really! :tt2:

    Dr. Aceves in Mexicali?

I think Dr. A's stats show that he has a .01% complication rate and so, unless it is made up hog was, then about .01% of the posts should be negative. I'm being banded by Dr. A on 4-18. Good luck and God speed to you and me both!

    Best surgeon ever

WOW! There seems a little "We Hate WABB" Group has formed, met and created a tired mantra already. I cannot believe how rude you ladies are to her. She has an opinion , one lacking name calling mind you, and for whatever (and yes I've read this site enough to know the history) reason you same women come out spitting and slapping. Who needs Britney when we have women like you ladies on here to entertain us. Really, it's embarrassing to our gender to act so feline.

    Mexico vs. US

Thank you both so much for the information. I'm still just researching the possibilities, so I haven't made a call yet to Rodriguez's camp, although they did call me and forward info for review. However, Mom, I'm also considering Dr. Rambault in Monterrey. On obesityhelp.com he has lots of praise and very high numbers for verified bands, whereas Rodriguez only has his website to verify. I don't know yet. There is even a Dr. in Colorado who does it for like $10,000 and to be stateside, I might consider it. Anyway, THANKS! A

    Mexico vs. US

I am a self pay "potential" client, because our employer has excluded the surgery from coverage, thus I am researching my lap-band options. I have talked to several agencies in Mexico, as I live in Texas, I am leaning toward Dr. Rodriguez in Juarez. My questions are, 1)What are the differences between the surgery in the US & the surgery in Mexico? 2)The first thing I have noticed is in Mexico you stay in the hospital for days, here in the US I am home by evening. Is that because the procedure in Mexico is different, perhaps more invasive, and my body needs the hospital stay to heal? I've heard the company line but would like the real experience. 3) In Mexico, how do follow ups work? Will it be necessary to travel back there at 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, six months and annually, as US Dr's require? And if not, WHY NOT? 4)How willing to work with clients are US Drs for fills? 5)What if there are complications? How does a Mexico client handle that? Thank you all so much. I wont be having my surgery until April of 2008, but do want to get whatever info I can to help me prepare.
