  2. I am at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital in Houston, off I-10 and Gessner. I have followed all my directions to the T. I've been up walking since 5 this evening and can feel the air(gas) moving to exits. I have not had anything by mouth yet, but my pain is minimal. I am on a morphine drip I can use if I want, but I haven't had reason to us since after my first walk at 5pm today. I have no regrets what so ever. I know I have a long road ahead and will keep you posted on how my first liquid goes tomorrow. I did need pain meds asap when I woke up in recovery, I was so soar.
  3. I have UHC and was required to notify optumhealth before I spoke to any doctors about wls. They assigned me a nurse and we spoke about once very 90 days. They sent me their requirements and in network docs and hospital. I then made appointment with the doc I chose and followed what he said to do. The only reason I contacted them was I got online on myuhc.com and read everything that had to do with wls and it stated that I must contact optum before meeting with a surgeon. My optum nurse has been very helpful. So far I've had no issues with the process. I am currently 14 hours out of surgery. If you have not, I would say got to myuhc.com set up your online account. Go in and read everything under my benefits and /or anything that makes states about what is cover, where its covered, how much is covered, ect. My coverage states that is will cover up to $10,000 for my surgery.
  4. I had my surgery this morning around 7:30am. So far everything is great and I'm not having any issues. I also met a lady that is a member on here that had her surgery today too. Hope I've found a new long term friend
  5. I have been on an all liquid diet for 12 days and it is not easy. Everyday changes in terms of feelings. I was a zombie till day 10. I added sugar free popsicles and boulon cubes to the mix to fill me up in between my shakes. This is not impossible but it is not easy at all. Stick to it and the results are awesome.
  6. I was told when my appointment was over that I passed.
  7. Maybe get some flavorless protein powder and add it to the foods you are taking in when your hungry, so your not eating and drinking so much. Two birds, one stone. Best wishes.
  8. In my nutri classes we where told that the stomach does not shrink once stretched.
  9. I am 9 days into my 15 day pre op diet and I feel like things might be going down hill right now. My paper work states hunger will disappear around the 3 day mark, this has not happened at all but began to get stronger and more painful. I am very lethargic, so much so that I can not drive. Then this evening I start hearing and seeing in tunnel like vision and sight. Is this normal for what I am going through. I do not want to call my doc if this is normal.
  10. My doc has ordered me on a 14 day high protein liquid diet. I'm to drink 4-5 special shakes a day and stay within 700-900 calories and 50 carbs. Then the day before surgery, which is the 15th day, only clear fluids, no orange or reds. So far I am 8 days in and feel near death.
  11. I have not gotten to this point but my doctor makes it very clear that I along with the others in my nutritional class, we will all be on a two week pre-op diet. It consist of up to 4 Protein shakes a day, only 3 with skim milk though, and clear fluids that contain zero carbs and NO sugar. No food whats so ever, no chewing.
