Losing focus
Everyone has suggested getting therapy and I think that is a good idea. You went through a lot with the changes of jobs and losing your Mom is just awful. Take care of yourself and seek help.

When I sneeze I pee. I don't like this. Sometimes I sneeze the first time and manage to hold"it" but then the second one comes I am not so lucky. It sucks!!

I know this is silly... but I gotta rant
It's sad that some are not as educated as others but what happened? Teachers gave up? Really, not on here I see so many grammar flaws on the news and at work, it's shocking somehow these people actually graduated.....from HS?

FINALLY! I have found not one but TWO things I **HATE** about my sleeve.
Silk johns can be found in LL Bean. Just a thought.

Well, I am not looking forward being cold. I am one of those people who would take a nap with cold feet thinking it's going to get warm under the covers. Nope it's stays cold so therefore no nap for me. Yes I put socks on. It's a weird phenomenon. I also miss taking my hot soaking baths. I stopped almost a year ago because my knee would not bend all the way so getting out was tough. Boy , do I miss it. So after surgery and the knee surgery I will be able to get back in the tub. One of the things on my list for the winter is getting wool socks!!

Surgery tomorrow, some questions.
Hi I am going to be in your shoes soon. Surgery will happen hopefully in Dec., I am meeting the surgeon next week but I wanted to ask you was it your choice to wait over a year to do your knees? I am doing this surgery because I need to lose weight for knee replacdments. I hope to have mine done within 6 mths.

employment opportunities?
This is going to interesting for me when I go back into the work force. I have been on disability because of my knees. I am having the WLS surgery sometime in December so with knee surgery following its unpredictable when I'll return to work. If I go past the one year mark I would have to re-apply at my job if there is any thing. If I return before the one year mark they have to have something in my department. With this weight loss upon me I should not have problems going back because I think I will feel better about myself with confidence. One thing at a time and I will worry about this when the time comes. Now it's all about me

Hi Sorry this took a long time to respond....that is awesome you lived in Burlington! I miss that mall since I am not near there anymore. I was across the street at Barnes Noble meeting daughter and I can see Burlington Mall has advanced so much. wow! I went to school in Boston and never left MA. I lived in Medford, Somerville and Malden before moved out to Holden. I was ready to get out of the city to raise my kids. I love vsiting Boston but I don't miss living there You are right New England is special, with the ocean, mountains and a great city. I grew up in CT. I thought I would move out of the state when my kids graduated HS. Well, that has not happened. I am not even sure what the future holds. I do know one thing, we are about to start our fabulous fifties! To a healthier life and I know I am going to burst into energy! I am really excited to move forward to a newer 2nd half of my and your life. It is nice to "meet"you! Lisa

New to fifties group
Happy Sunday, I am still in preop stages and did I celebrate my 50th birthday yesterday. I had filet mignon, potatoes etc plus a couple of cosmos and desserts. Not a good choice but heck this is the one b-day that is a milestone. After that I don't care so I should not splurge like I did yesterday. Getting right back on track. Thank you for the b-day wishes!!

Thank you Martha for the Birthday wish We have a connection and that is Boston! Plus the fact we are going for Weight loss surgery May I ask where did you live while here in MA? I went to school back in the early 80's and never left to go back home in CT. I thought I would move by now but it's hard to depart from New England.... So I will be meeting with the surgeon on the 19th so my date is getting very close. I am thinking Dec. I cannot wait to start my new life It's nice to meet you and the rest of the 50's group

New to fifties group
Hello Ladies..... I'm going join and participate this group cause tomorrow I turn 50!!! Whoo hoo! I have navigated through the forums and Wow it's been a learning experience! I will have my consult with the surgeon on Nov. 19th. Looking at possible surgery in December. I weigh 308, 5'5 and BMI 51(I think). I am so ready for a life change! I am also doing the surgery so I can have my knees replaced. I stopped working late April because suddenly I could not put pressure in it. So I have my highs and lows being on disability through my job. Luckily, I signed up for the disability insurance. It's better than nothing!! A lot has to be done and we will persevere! Looking to chat with you guys! ❤️Lisa

Please tell me if your nose gets smaller after weight loss surgery?
I like all the refined features that will be coming up but not the nose fact. I just hope for the finer features! We shall see how my nose turn out after the weight loss. I like the how our feet will shrink a bit. Some people go down a size or two. I have some shoes that were snuggier as well and thrilled I will wear them post op. There is so much to look forward to!! Thank you for your insights as well for everyone who participated with their thoughts.
