  1.    PurpleBanded reacted to a post in a topic: Post Op Diareha and weakness
  2. A tunny tuck would sure help the motivation. That's only wishful thinking on my part. I also think I'm getting a little too old for one. That at my age, just live with it. I checked into one about a year ago, but with the economy the way it is, gave up on the idea. Keep me posted about the exercise - I'll make a goal for the week to do my Wii every day after work. Good luck
  3. I hear what you're saying and know the feeling. If I don't keep busy the kitchen just calls my name and it doesn't matter what it is. My worst time is between 3:00 and 4:30. I'll do great after all day at work, get home and I'm tired, the teenagers are coming in wanting to eat and I find myself grazing enough to constitute a whole meal. Then I fix dinner and eat that meal. Then on top of this my exercise has not been regular. I know that I need to be exercising during this time of day. It would be perfect but just can't get the determination to do it. The worse thing is I know how to fix the problem, but am lacking the motivation to do it. I'll do really good for a week or two and then it fizzles out. Thanks for your post and good luck.
  4. Paragirl - No I'm in Douglas. That's part of my problem. I have to plan a day off work to get a fill and it's a little too long to go for an evening support group.
  5. Paragirl and Brina - count me in also. I've had a rough 6-8 months. I've gained about 20 pounds and need to get my head back on straight again. Had a fill a week ago and maybe it'll stay for awhile. My band seems to have a leak. I get a fill to 7 cc and when I go back in I'm between 5 and 6 and that's where it stays. I'm at 7.5 at the moment and go back in the first week of April for another. I really need to stay around 7.5 o maybe even 8. I also need to stay away from the sweets. Glad to hear from both of you. Lets keep in touch, maybe we can keep each other going.
  6. Happytrucker - I also had the shoulder pain, but besides that I've had no problem with the placement. I also know quite a few others who have it there and they're also doing fine. I haven't been to any support groups, but that's only because I don't live in Albany. I live about 1 1/2 hours away so it's difficult for an evening support meeting. I hate making the trip for even a fill. Good luck with your journey. Brinna - I agree - I also wish more of the old group were still posting. I rarely post myself but will surf the site every so often. Still like looking at befores and afters.
  7. First - Brina glad to see you're still doing so great! Now for Happy Trucker - I was banded 2 1/2 years ago and am still glad I did it. I'm having some trouble maintaining my weight though. Part of that is I appear to have a small leak in my band and can't keep restriction and the other part is that I've become a little too lax in following the band rules. But even with that, I'd do it again. I'd like to have my potential leak checked out and taken care of but I was self-pay and there's no way I can afford to put money out for this now. Good luck on your band.
  8. Hey paragirl - how are things going? I haven't been on this site for weeks and weeks. I also looked for the old link and figured no one was still around. Hope things are still going well for you. I've pretty much maintained for the past 6 months and am still pleased with my band. Jovaughn - Good luck on your upcoming journey.
  9. LauraP - do you mind me asking what his price quote was for both insurance and no insurance? You could pm me or if you don't want to tell, I'll understand. I've had one consultation and they didn't want to discuss prices too much until we heard from insurance. I also need the Fleur-de-lis". Thanks
  10. Congratulations!!!!! Mia - you should feel so proud today. 83 pounds is great! Keep up the good work and before you know it you'll break the 100 pound mark.
  11. lotzasunshin - I see you had your surgery by Dr. K, how did that go? He sure is alot cheaper, but what about follow up care and where do you have to go for fills? I paid a lot more than that, but all follow up and fills are included. I'm interested because my husband wants it done also.
  12. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and that all of you did better than I did about maintaining control. It felt like a week of the old me, no restraints. It's really quite frightening and I sure don't like the results on the scale. I recently told my husband that I wasn't going to worry about trying to loose any more until after the new years and I'd see about a fill and try and shed those last few pounds then, but Thanksgiving showed me that I was only dreaming. If I don't keep focused those last few pounds will be more than just a few. Anyway, I hope all of you are doing great and that you will all make it through the uncoming holidays successfully.
  13. I did absolutely horrible and am truly ashamed of myself. I'm within 10 pounds of my goal and figured I'd try and eat fairly normal through the holidays. I even told my husband that I wouldn't worry about losing anymore until after the new year with the hopes that I could eat sensibly, enjoy, and still not gain. How wrong I was, I couldn't make it through thanksgiving and am afraid what xmas will bring. I know I need a fill and was going to wait until new years for that, but I'll call tomorrow and see when I can get in. In the meantime, I'm going low carb and see if I can't shed what I just put on.
  14. I'm so happy that the month of October is a thing of the past. It was not a good month for me. I've been stressed out, not eating right, not exercising, and not loosing. It all started the end of September when I found a lump in my breast. Then the mamogram came out abnormal, then the ultrasound came out abnormal and I went in for a needle biopsy. Then they wouldn't do the needle biopsy and had to have the vacuum biopsy. I was told that I should have the results in 1-3 days, but of course no way. It took 9 days to get my results back and by then both the doctors' office and myself were extremely worried. Fortunately, it wasn't cancer. This played havic with my emotions and I found myself back with a sugar addiction and Halloween didn't help either. Well, I'm determined to turn this all around for the month of November. I started back this morning low-carbing and logging my food again and managed to get through today without any bad carbs. I figure it'll take at least a week to break away from the sugar cravings, but I won't give up. I only want to loose 6-8 more pounds and I hope to do this before the end of the year. Good luck to everyone and don't give up. With the holidays coming we'll all need each other's support to keep on track. Georgia girl - how was the run? Also, thanks for checking up on me.
  15. jennifer - I've been told that medicaid does pay for it (don't know for sure), but I do know that the medicaid plan that does pay for it has to be done through a bariatric center of excellence and Dr. Bagnato's office is not one of those. The reason I know that is that our school insurance will start paying for lapband and they are following the medicaid guidelines. Dr. Bagnatos office has applied to be a center of excellence but they told me that it could take awhile.
  16. Sugar busters is fairly easy to follow, it's basically low carb. You don't eat anything with sugar or white, like rice, whitebread, Pasta, etc. The dr's office will give you the needed info on what you can eat. In regards to meds. I don't have to take too many, but have 4 every morning. I don't have too much problems with them, but with the larger ones I do cut them in half.
