  1. I found out yesterday morning that my BCBS of Ga insurance had an exclusion for bariatric surgery/drugs so I will NOT be having any weight loss surgery now. I went through a day of feeling sorry for myself, crying my eyes out and just being depressed and mad at myself for letting myself get to this point. When my husband got home, he hugged me, told me to get dressed and we hit the gym. This morning I went for a mile walk, I will NOT let this little stepping stone get me down any further. Now to find a low carb, low fat diet I can stick with and I will be okay. Good luck to all of you on your journey!

    Keeping my head up!

Thank you Me and my husband are looking at other options, He is paying over $630 a month for family coverage and it's just me now that it's covering so I am looking at other insurance companies that have major medical, it's just all so overwhelming. But in the meantime, I'm just going to try to do better in the gym and with my food intake, that's all I can do. Not gonna beat myself up right now. And thanks Ann, I won't give up!

    Keeping my head up!

I have went through 2 c-sections, and 2 other major abdominal surgeries and in no way needed two weeks of round the clock care. 2-3 days seems quite sufficient for this surgery as long as you get up and start moving as soon as possible! My friend had the gastric sleeve 4 months ago and was up and about within 3 days, and wanting to go back to work by the next week and she was larger than me. I'm just saying I would be one miserable you know what if I had to stay there that long!

You are absolutely right, going to a different country is ones own opinion, mine is I love myself and my family way too much to even entertain that risk. But to each his own....My PCP highly recommends NOT to do this because of risk of infection and quality of service, The old saying is true, you get what you pay for! But again...the best to you and your journey.

    Keeping my head up!

Flying to another country is out of the question, I am not that desperate to put my life in a foreigners hands and have to fly back and forth for follow-ups, and I sure would not advise anyone else to do that!! I am unemployed at the time and am under my husband's insurance. I buckled down and lost 50 pounds last year so I feel I can do it again, no, I think this was a wake up call and put a fire under my behind to get healthier and start doing what I need to be doing.
  7. Hi, My name is Sharon and after several years of my physician telling me I need Bariatric surgery I have finally caved in. i do have to say I have a true fear of surgery itself due to me having a really bad infection after having a c-section in 1989. My first step is to visit the information session tonight and get all the information I can and have most of my questions answered. I am what me and my husband call a "fit fat", I am basically overall healthy but have been a steady 300-335 pounds for a long time now. We go to the gym daily during the week, I am able to do the ellipticcal for almost an hour at a decent pace and can outdo some men on weights there so I do have muscle structure. I have sleep apnea but I am not able to wear the full mask due to panic attacks. I have a family history of heart disease and diabetes and would love to get my weight under control before these terrible diseases creep up on me. I'm excited and nervous, hoping insurance covers me and I don't have to jump through hoops like some people I have read had to do. I am also embarrassed and ashamed that I have let myself get to this point, but I am trying not to beat myself up
  8. Thanks for the responses. Now I have to wait for the one on one consult after they run my insurance. I did find that my cost will be $745.00... $150 for the assessment fee $95 for the Nutrition Consult $350 for the Psychology consult $150 for the Success Habits Workshop So I will probably be waiting until the first of the year to start my journey unless I can raise the money sooner. It was very informing though and I found if you have a BMI of 40 or above you are basically accepted. So that was a relief.
