  1. Thanks for the advice. I definitely need to up the Water intake. Its so easy to forget to drink when you're not able to drink when eating! Good luck!
  2. Congrats! I have lost about 50-55 lbs since August. Lately the scale does not want to move! I had been too tight for the first time and got stuck, had to be unfilled, and then wait to be filled again. I seem to hovering, trying to find that just right spot. Thank god I have such a great doctor/practice who make themselves available when needed! I'm so close to breaking into the 100s...maybe psychological that I can't move past??? Any advice to make that scale move again?

    Where did my fill go?

As you lose weight, fat is also lost from around your stomach causing your band to be lose. Most doctors will remove the saline to measure it (to check for leaks) and then add that amount back in and then some for a fill. Good luck!
  4. I have been diagnosed with thyroid issues and pcos since college. The 2 have definitely affected weight loss over the years as well as my own issues with food. Since banded in Aug '10, I have lost 50 pounds. Its slow at times, but it will happen. It is so important to take your synthroid- especially at the same time and not with food. My doctor can tell instantly if I haven't been doing something right with the medicine. Not to mention when the levels need adjusting, I usually can tell since all of a sudden I'll be really tired all the time. Take the help modern medicine can give you and enjoy the rewards!
  5. I also was diagnosed with PCOS (and a thyroid issue) - just after college. Although now knowing the symptoms, I think I had it during high school. I was banded in Aug'10 and have lost about 50 lbs. Its a struggle. I do notice that the scale won't move for a few weeks, and then all of a sudden I'll have results. Just keep working at it. I know my symptoms are getting better though even with the 50 pounds gone. (never had a normal period and now its like clock-work!)
  6. I would definitely get banded again. My only regret is not doing it years ago. The weight loss is slow, but steady. Surgery went easy for me and I had minimal pain- only need children's motrin. After a few weeks you'll be able to sleep on your stomach. I can not feel my port unless I really press down on it. Problems can up up and most likely will at some time. Its important to be comfortable with your doctor choice and make sure they make themselves available. i have gotten "stuck" just once, but my doctor met me on a holiday and opened the practice and took out my fill in less than a minute- problem solve instantly! Next week, a was filled again and now I really chew! Good luck... research, ask questions, and make the best decision for you!

    pcos do you have it?

I've had pcos for about 15 years and its always been managed by birth control. I was a bit worried about going off of it for a month prior to surgery, but I had no issues and now I'm a over a month out of surgery and have had no pain. However I have not tried to get pregnant, but its one of the major reasons why I decided to do this surgery to help down the road.
  8. Are you taking prescription pain meds? I found that taking them made me completely nauseated and as soon as I stopped and switched to liquid tylonol I was fine.
  9. I'm not finding it difficult to breathe, but try not to belly laugh...that hurts!
  10. Congrats! I was also banded yesterday came home this morning. My pain was not a 10, but its up there.
  11. My surgery is tomorrow! I'm so nervous, but excited to finally be moving forward!
