At this stage in my life, I am seriously considering WLS because I am tired of my weight slowing me down. I have been successful at a lot of things except this.

I am not so much worried about clothes or other's opinions. I long to do the outdoorsy things that make life an adventure. I'd like to walk El Camino de Santiago in Spain and the Pacific Coast Trail here in California; I want to become someone who goes for long hikes and runs marathon (and to finally cross that off my bucket list!) I know I can do those things with the right training at my current weight, but it would be so much easier without the excess baggage.

I have my first meeting with my surgeon in two weeks. I've heard and read about how excited other people are, but I feel tremendous sadness. How did it come to this? I wish I could do this on my own without the drastic intervention. I know I will work through those feelings, but that is where I am right now.
