  1. The best thing that I did was purchase Miralax. I took it for about 1 week and then my system got back on track!
  2. Isn't it great to get the compliments!!! Great job on the 31lbs!
  3. Wow, 36lbs! That's awesome! Well, I am definitely with you on the 30/30 rule. I am so used to drinking and eating, so that is a huge struggle for me. I think on most days I get between 500 - 700 calories. I forget to eat and I dislike a couple of my vitamins (they are so chalky)! I have lost a total of 50 lbs (pre op - 25 lbs and post op - 25 lbs). My surgery was on 9/16 and I have stalled a bit, but I feel the changes in my clothes! My 6 week follow up is next week and I am ready for my Dr to tell me I can go back to the gym full time! I am ready to drop some more lbs!
  4. Hello September folks! How are things going? How's the food? The weight? The new lifestyle without sugar? Any struggles? Any concerns?
  5. Hi - I did have to get an EGD and it was with Dr Nain. He also practices with BluePoint. He's in the Woodbridge office. As for the psych consult, it was with Jacqueline Jacobson. She's is the same medical building as The Fairfax BluePoint office. Her information is also in the booklet that Pam gave you. Good luck with everything!
  6. Hi Ladiec2! I am so sorry for the late response. I am now 4 weeks POST op!! YAY! I am over the hump. I had my surgery on 9/16 with Dr. Moazzez and I have had a great recovery. My insurance provider is Aetna and I got my approval on the 1st try. Definitely send me a message if you have any additional questions.
  7. What does your MD define as smooth food?
  8. Hey @@Notinks! I will be on mushy food as of day 22! That will officially be October 8th. I have finally gotten all of that IV fluids off of my as of today! Now... it gets REAL! I am so excited that we are on the losing side now! I did about 6 ounces of Protein today and about the same amount of H2O. As of now, nothing is coming up or making me sick... I am just full all the time.
  9. Hey folks! I am doing well. I still have some abdominal pain, as I also had my hiatal hernia repaired. I absolutely know that I am not getting in enough liquids/proteins! I can barely get 2 ounces down every other hour. Ugh! Any suggestions friends?? Also, I have about 7 more lbs to get rid of from all the fluids that were pumped into me at the hospital. They had my IV in up to 5 mins prior to my discharge. LOL - my MD said to keep me pumped up! I am so ready to end this liquid diet! This has been my life for the past 3 weeks! Come on mushy food!
  10. Hi Joy59 - the daVinci team that my MD would normally use were not available. So, he just did the regular laparoscopic procedure. I will be going home today and I feel pretty good. Of course I am still sore, but it's bearable.
  11. Hello all - I made it out of surgery & recovery OK. I was in my room by 6pm. It's currently about 3am and I just 2 laps! I am in some pain, but it's not too bad.
  12. Hello all - no daVinci for me today. I will have a regular laparoscopic procedure today.
  13. I am heading in for surgery at 11am! I am excited, nervous and ready to start my new journey.
  14. We will do well! Are you excited/nervous?
  15. When and where did you have your surgery?
  16. I am in Northern VA and Dr Moazzez is doing my surgery.
  17. MsUjima - we will have to keep in touch and share our journeys! Where are you?
  18. Hi Beni - Yes, Dr Moazzez uses the daVinci. I am no sure if that's his only method of performing the bypass and sleeve, but he did inform me that this was his method for me. I personally chose the RNY because of my reflux. I have it off and on, but it's enough for me not to want to have it all the time and that's a known side effect for sleeve. Also, I do not believe that my insurance would have approved the sleeve, as some ins co still consider it "experimental." You are correct in stating that it's overwhelming. My surgery is in 4 days and I am in knots! I'm excited, anxious and nervous all at once! Good luck with your decision!
  19. Oh, ok! Good luck - our surgeries are right around the corner!
  20. Is there a reason he thinks he would have to do an open procedure?
  21. Thanks James! Yes, it's not that common. I have been trying to get as much info as possible. I trust my surgeon, just hoping I can find some folks on here to ease my mind about the surgery! :-)
  22. I will be having RNY surgery on the 16th of this month and I was just curious to see how many other folks were or will be operated on with the daVinci robotics procedure. Please share
  23. Good to hear that all is well with you @ sweetcin! I can't wait to join you guys on the losers side!
