  1. My one year sleeve-sary, is next week, wait don't congratulate me yet! Yup...I've lost about 91#s initially...then the holidays...now I'm up 13#s. Not too bad you say?! Well I am panicing because of health issues, specifically, diabetes. It did not take much weight for it to develop for me. Seen pcp today and discussed Byetta and even to bring up revision to surgeon next week, that is if it gets to that point. Now I feel as if I should've weighed myself more often...maybe monthly atleast?! Please understand that even though I am panicked, I will excerise (no pun intended) every avenue that brought me to my 91# loss. I still haven't even reached goal...what a naughty lady!

    How to take pills

I have so many pills to take 3 times a day! Ugh...it was disgusting crushing them! I used a stronger flavored Crystal Light or tea w/ lemon and splenda, but honestly, it did not help much. I had to look forward to taking whole pills, way easier. Sorry, I wish I could be of more help! Try to hang in there!
  3. Surgery date: 2/24/15. Post-op glucose readings fair, in hospital. First day full liquid diet, 177, 259, 261 next a.m., 184 (fasting). Needless to say, I am back on insulin. Total carbs that day: 21 grams; protein: 51 grams, total calories: 208, total Fluid intake: 78 oz. I am very depressed. The reason for the surgery was to get off insulin and other meds. I understand that it is soon, but I wanted to be one of those people that get out of the hospital without meds/ insulin. Well that is the story of my life. Anyhoo, doc did say not to lose hope as with weight loss it may improve. I hope so but so far...not my luck. Anyone else have the same issue and actually did get some meds reduced and insulin kept at bay? Please let me know, I am really feeling stupid for getting this surgery right now....
  4. I posted recently about me still being insulin dependent. Obviously feeling a little depressed. So now what I feared is happening...not healing/infection! Yup will contact them in a.m. but I just noticed pus (drainage) from one of my incision sites, checked the others and noticed some unusual things. My concern is what is going on inside?! I am just a little confused (and scared) because I received answers telling me that my blood glucose readings will improve with time. Well does a diabetic really have "time" for readings to improve? We cannot heal with high readings! I spoke with my bariatric team yesterday and was told to take a certain amt. of insulin, but now this. I am not really sure what will happen but I have faith in my bariatric center, they are so caring and attentive! In the mean time, could anyone chime in that has diabetes type II with the same issue(s)?!

    Again, with the diabetes

Bruni, I just wanted to mention that my bariatric team has an endocrinologist in office, so that is a plus, but I will also be seeing my reg. endo in about a week. Thank you all for your input, very much appreciated!
  6. My doc told me 90% of his patients do so before leaving the hospital...figures I'd be in the 10%!

Hello, I am very interested as I am very financially challenged at the moment. My surgery will be in early March so if you still have this available....please, please, let me know. I am also in the northeast Ohio area. Thank you in advance, regardless of your answer!

    Waiting on Ins./Rant

Haven't been on here for a while so here is where I am at: WAITING! Everything has been finished and even called my insurance for any information they may have. Still pending is what was told. I had my information submitted about a week and a half ago. I have Buckeye Community and it is for Cleveland, Ohio area. Which brings me to wonder...why are there hardly any people here or on other bariatric forum sites from this area?! Anyhow, I am going to sit here patiently b/c beggars can't be choosers and I have waited this long anyhow. In addition...I am scared to death of the surgery! I am scared of my health problems as well, but the surgery scares me also. Does anyone else have this fear? Does anyone else feel like "why" is this the way to improve my health?! It hurts so bad to know that my diabetes (type II, insulin dependent) has caused such damage, not to mention a whole slew of other issues. Sorry, this became a rant.
  9. Listen, I am on three antidepressants as well. I take trazodone, viibryd, and Effexor XR. I was told by my psychiatrist I will be taking the regular Effexor probably four times a day crushed (I take a very large dose in all meds). Hopefully he will not be giving me any new meds as I am teetering on some other issues. I take a large amount of meds altogether and I was worried also. I guess this is not new to them and they know what to do. I was scared because just one dose of missing my Effexor XR and I was on my way to the hospital for electroconvulsive therapy. I hope all will go well for you. Any questions....feel free to contact me!

    FML

Sooooo, I have only 1 more appt. in Sept. then I should be done. Well, not so much. I was told since I have had prednisone for my neck (degenerative disk disease, arthritic, with a pinched nerve) I have to wait until 6 more months for surgery. HAHAAHAHAHAHAHA! Then they tell me my PCP said that my sugar has to come down (currently at 7.4 a1c) cause it was 346 at the time of testing. Yeah, the prednisone elevated it and what could I do. I was at the bariatric centers doctor and told them this, they did not mention the time to wait. WTF!!!!! That makes for 1 year to wait!!! There are sooo many meds and problems I have, but have been flying through FOR the surgery, I am at the point of giving up.... on everything! This is ridiculous, if I am at the weight I am and have so many problems at 37 y/o, why are they questioning this. This is just a rant and I am ready to give up on life....no joke! WTF are they doing!?

    Who Are You?

Hello! I am 37 y/o, a wife and mother of 3 (17, 12, 7). Also, a mother to three fur babies: a cat and two St. Bernards. I am almost at the end of my pre-op requirements, just some labs and a drug test to go, oh and one last visit with the nutritionist/doctor. I have not been this big my whole life. I believe that with my second to last pregnancy, my weight started to pick up and with my last pregnancy I had gestational diabetes...which never went away, so now I am a type II diabetic. Along with the weight my health headed south, now I have a lovely myriad of health concerns, I will list them just incase anyone can relate on theses boards: diabetes type II (duh, just said that), high blood pressure, hypercholesterolemia (especially triglycerides), pulmonary hypertension, asthma (my whole life), sleep apnea, depression/anxiety (had that for a while too), GERD, my kidney function is declining (my doc told me the very beginning stages of CKD-chronic kidney disease),fatty liver, and finally, degenerative disk disease in my neck, which is pinching a nerve b/c it is arthritic (this one I can blame on my nursing career) Never would I have thought gaining weight could do some of these things! I have tried to lose weight so many times just to gain even more back....ugh! I have become much more sedentary in my thirties too! No excuses, just got lazier, I guess. As far as family goes, my husband is very supportive of my decision and my oldest child as well, the other two are as supportive as their age allows them to be. I am going to the Bariatric Center at St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, with Dr. Chandra Hassan. Well, that is all for now.... Good Luck to Everyone and Wishing You All the Best of Health!
