  3. Hi all! I'm a newbie too. I have my first appointment on august 20. (3I'm hoping to have the sleeve done) That will be the information appointment where I will get my packet of info and things that need to be done. I know I have to go to 3 NUT consults, a psych eval, and 2 or 3 support groups before I'm cleared to even meet with the actual surgeon. I have Tricare and have to get it done on base. I'm hoping it all goes well. I'm so nervous I won't be approved for surgery!! I am so ready for this!
  4. Update!! I have my first appointment with the bariatric clinic on 8/20. I have to do the 4 hour information seminar as my first step. Come to find out I didn't need a referral from my PCP. Yay!! So I guess they will tell me if I might qualify with my comorbidities.
  5. Hi everyone! I am in San Antonio, TX. I am trying to start the process to have the Sleeve done at SAMMC. I went to my PCM and was told I might not be a candidate and I did not get a referral to the bariatric clinic. This is so frustrating! I have been battling with my weight since I was 17. My BMI is 36.6. Has anyone been through the process at SAMMC? Can you tell me how you got started? Also, does anyone know of comorbidities other than the obvious ones usually listed that they will accept? Thanks!!
  6. My husband is military and I have to have the sleeve done at SAMMC. I've read about wearing weight belts and ankle weights, but they just weighed me and it's in my record. I think increasing 10-15 lbs that quick might look suspicious??
  7. Hi! I am in San Antonio. I am just started the process to get sleeved. I went to my pcp and was told I do not meet the criteria because my BMI in only 36.6. ONLY!! Are you kidding me?!? I have been battling my weight since I was 17. I have tried everything including prescription weight loss medications. Does anyone out there know other comorbidities that are covered. I am have a sleep study done to check for sleep apnea. I already have migraines, reflux, and high cholesterol. I am feeling frustrated I didn't get a referral!!
  8. Hi everyone! I am in San Antonio, TX. I am trying to start the process to have the VSG done at SAMMC. I went to my PCM and was told I might not be a candidate and I did not get a referral.
